The Schooner Tavern, hotel in Ballycotton

The Schooner Tavern enjoys a location in Ballycotton, 21 miles from Cathedral of St. Colman and 24 miles from Cork Custom House. Providing a restaurant, the property also has a bar.

The staff were so helpful and friendly. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with loads of choice and options. The owner was so full of local knowledge and full of tips of where to walk locally. Lovely gent! The bedding was really comfy with ample supplies of tea and coffee making facilities. We really felt welcomed and the staff went out of their way to make us feel so. We`d definitely visit this beautiful little seaside village again. Loads of shells on the beach and even seals to watch. Ballycotton is well worth a visit, no shop but fantastic eateries, comedy club and very friendly people. The velux window had a remote closure which my daughter enjoyed. (she`s an adult). It`s all about location..........Definitely walk from Schooner`s down across the road to collect beautiful shells and different stones. Walk further along towards the pier. True inspiration for any artist! Ignore that ugly eye-sore of a "house" that ruins the views as you walk towards the "cliff walk"......Probably cost a fortune and can`t understand how that eye-sore got planning permission in such a beautiful location........"Ugly wealth" I call it!

It’s a remotely located, small seaside village with very few amenities so if you are looking for entertainment and nightlife, it’s probably not the place for you. But if you like coastal walks, tranquility, nature, peace and quiet- you will love Ballycotton!

The bed was huge and extra comfortable!

The bed was huge and extra comfortable! The room had a view on the ocean and this was simply amazing! Pity the restaurant in the hotel is closed during the week.. this could be said more explicitly while booking. But there are nice places to go to eat nearby, like Pier 26! The food was simply amazing!

Great village, stunning location, awesome bars.

Great village, stunning location, awesome bars. If you love running as I do then take your running gear and go on a stunning run - I did and I wish all my runs were as beautiful as the one I had last weekend.

The focus of the village is on the harbour.

The focus of the village is on the harbour. Cliff top walks and a good base from which to explore nearby villages and beaches. Cork is not so far away - only 30 minutes to Cobh well worth a day visiting heritage sites, exhibitions and museums.

Anna and Paddy were really helpful hosts and we loved staying at their B&B. The room was lovely and spacious with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was gorgeous and very fresh! The B&B is very close to Ballymaloe House and there are a number of local taxis that we could use to get back from the wedding we attended. It is also very easy to get to Ballycotton and Midleton from this house. I would highly recommend that anyone looking to stay in this area stay in Sunville!
