Comfortable beds and hot shower with really good preasure on their basic rooms. They have a restaurant in the building which is very convinient and the family that runs the homestay is really friendly and takes care of you. You can also rent scooters with them for a good price.

Great place located between expensive resorts, hence the price I guess. Food was good although lack of vegetarian options. Both this facility and next door have the same owner so don’t hesitate to jump over there for food.

Breakfast and other meals were good, considering that a lot of western produce is not easy to source. We went for the peace and quiet holiday and away from the hectic Bali scene and got what we hoped for. We enjoyed how the local employees were doing their utmost to make you feel comfortable.

Gorgeous resort on the edge of sumba island. The heart of this resort is the staff. Hands down. As an indonesian born, it feels amazing to see a resort like this has given back so much to locals. We spent a lot talking to the staff who told us their stories and how the community has been lifted since nihi was built. Clean water and educating the kids and senior staff. I hope nihi carries on bringing this opportunity to local as it is what sets a huge difference in indonesian luxury resort space.
Shout-out to our wonderful kaptens Raju and marten. Esther, Mary, Diana and Monique. For showing wonderful characters of indonesian hospitality.
Swimming with horse was a great experience. Their horse handlers were amazing and very good at taking pictures haha.
Set in Deke, 500 metres from Watu Bella Beach, Alamayah Boutique Retreat Hotel offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a fitness centre and a garden.
Different place, different experience. Not every place is a big smoke. One need to have an open mind. Waikabubak is for ( for us ) relaxing and enjoying nature. Love the mountains and forests all the way. And The Beautiful Ocean.I love not having TV for 4 days. I just watch the superb waves from our villas verandah at ThreeQueen Villas.

Waikabubak as a town is a non-descript typical provincial Indo town, with little accommodation and only one decent restaurant (great prices, great local food, cold Bintangs at D'SUmba Ate Waikabubak). There are few homestays and poor hotels. There are a couple of interesting Art Shops selling genuine antiques and local artifacts. There is one tourist shop selling local ikats mainly but at vastly inflated prices. The good things are all the traditional villages usually perched on local hilltops, including the touristy Prai Ijing (most of the houses now replaced by traditional LOOKING concrete rumah adats, only 1 year ago most were wooden structures) and then some great real untouristy places (e.g. prairame, kampung tarung). Also good access to waterfalls Lapopu and Matayangu. I wouldnt stay here for the town intself (in fact I would avoid it for that reason), but it is a great jumping off point for nearby attractions.

Go to Kampung Tarung, best ancestral village experience in Indonesia. Way WAY better than Rattenggaro! Authentic, free, no one is pushy about the stuff they sell, and you feel welcomed. Biggest highlight of Waikabubak!
