This is a perfect spot for relaxing after busy Ubud or Canggu. It's far enough from any village or town to feel the real Indonesian lifestyle. You will be pampered by the sound of twin rivers surrounding you, with clean water you can bathe in, you will be surrounded by hills of rise terraces, cultivated by warmest hearted people on this planet. This is a place to stop. And to feel. And to be.
And the staff! Their staff is 5* hotel staff. So kind, so caring, won't ever leave you without help! Food to the room? No problem! Ride to the waterfall - no problem. Actually nothing is any problem for them! Amazing staff that actually creates the magic of this place!

Sidemen is a nice 'rural' settlement in a stunning valley.
Sidemen is a nice 'rural' settlement in a stunning valley. Although we were not lucky with our accommodation we saw several nice resorts among the rice fields. Here you will see the real Bali people at work. 2 hours from the airport - it is a long way - but worth it.

This is a total country side were it’s difficult to find a good hotels to stay. You will find beautiful cafes and less options to stay. There are few good home stays as option. I spent two days and found it too much. You can cover these places if your are going to Lahangan sweet or the temple.

Spent 4 days here.
Spent 4 days here. Downside are the large truck with building material coming through the centre of town, but there are other road that are completely walkable with shopping and restaurants available, enough for 2 or 3 days. Great views all around and a good balance between hot and cool weather. This is a good spot between Ubud at one end of your trip and the sleepy beaches of the North and East of the Island. Also good for a quick trip up the mountain, including hiking Mount Agung if that is your thing.

Sidemen is a GEM.
Sidemen is a GEM. The fact that there are no noisy beach clubs and far less badly behaved tourists staying here is a definite bonus for the rest of us tourists and local guests who value nature, quiet and serenity. It's a less developed area as opposed to Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, Denpasar or even the Ubud area, and that's the beauty of this place. There is more authenticity of true Bali here that doesn't need to be changed. Nonetheless, Sidemen doesn't fall short of nice stays/villas and places to visit. The recommended nights to stay in the Sidemen area would be at 3 nights - enough for you to check out Sidemen and visit the attractions in Amed. Add an extra night stay if you're going diving/snorkelling in Amed.

Sidemen is a hidden paradise, perfect for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty. The highlight of my visit was trekking through the stunning terraced rice fields, an unforgettable experience of lush greenery and peaceful surroundings. Midway through the trek, a charming panoramic restaurant offers a perfect spot to rest, quench your thirst, or enjoy a meal while soaking in the breathtaking views. Sidemen truly captures the heart of Bali’s serene countryside.

The most amazing view of the rice fields!
Lovely guesthouse with really kind hosts. Do not be put off by the guesthouse title though, the rooms are excellent, had the only consistent hot water showers of our whole trip and the restaurant/food they cook was incredible with the ingredients grown in the garden.
Would highly recommend staying here while in sidemen, location is excellent to all local facilities and can trek the rice fields directly from the hotel.
Wapa Di Ume is an experience ! 3rd time here and every time is even better!
The best part of the hotel is that has the BEST staff! Every single one is so friendly and real kind! Most of them are working from the begging of this hotel and are from Sidemen!
Love Wapa Di Ume Family!
I have so many positive things to say about them and about the hotel!
This is a small hotel own by two young brothers sited in Sidemen’s heart. Fresh fruits served every morning, room is cleaned every day, the mattress is amazing, hot water, you can only hear the garden and the small river that goes by the hotel. Lovely people. If you want to explore the real Bali, just stay there. And they also do any kind of tours.
This family run hotel is located in the heart of Sidemen's rice paddies. It is peaceful and the views are absolutely gorgeous! Gede and his wife have been so welcoming and did accomodate every single request I made! Do try the banana pancakes for breakfast, they are delicious!
