After braving the crazy 3-4 hour road trip from Ngurah Rai, you will arrive on the best surf hotel. The location feels like Kuta in the 90's and I hope it stays that way.
Everything is comfortable, clean, and you can spend the day just watching the wave from the pool. I am not a surfer but my partner is already planning to come back. Certainly suitable for surfer and lazy poolside couple. There's nothing else to do but surf and drink.
Facing the beachfront, Wide Sands Beach Retreat offers 4-star accommodation in Pulukan and features an outdoor swimming pool, garden and private beach area.

Beautiful location on a quiet strip of beachfront in West Bali. Lovely rooms, lovely food, staff fantastic, great massage! 2 beautiful pools; one directly on the beachfront. Short walk to a couple of great little coffee shops and a cool little cafe hangout if you fancy a change of scene. Very peaceful location. Will definitely be back.

Location is good but a swimming beach is further away. Might be better suited for surfers? The restaurant next door provides excellent food and service.

The grounds are immaculate, well presented and the staff add little touches like flowers on the stairs to enhance the beautiful location.
The food, drinks and service in the restaurant is of such a high quality and is delicious. I loved every meal I ate at the resort, including the superb buffet breakfast.
The rooms are exceptionally clean, well laid out and spacious.
The spa treatments are spectacular - we thoroughly enjoyed our massages and facials and received such wonderful service.
The best part of this resort is the staff - they are helpful, friendly, cannot do enough for you and make your stay such a pleasurable experience.
I recommend this resort to anyone wanting a relaxing and amazing stay away from the busy parts of Bali (3-4 hour drive from Denpasar airport).
I cannot wait to return to Kelapa.

Chilled mostly, bunches of Canggu ? surfer kooks in the morning in surf.
Locals/expats are great, great little community you can wrap your head around as a Lombok expat.
Less choices is sometimes better, easy to get info and shared knowledge.
Gilmanuk road is not for the beginners...nor is the big surf.

If you are wanting excitement, nightlife and a lot of shops and bars then this is not the place for you.
It does give you access to north Bali - but there is still a lot of travelling involved - however if someone who knows the roads is driving then it is enjoyable and gives you the opportunity to take more notice of the scenery.
We loved staying in the Kelapa Retreat and Spa and we used the restaurant there for the whole of our stay.
The beach is lovely. It is long and suitable for surfing and swimming and walking along

If you're looking to get away from the crowds, look no further. We walked for an hour along the beach and met just a handful of people. Get here before they finish the motorway as I'm sure it won't be the same! The sea is a little bit rough, but the beach is amazing for walking.

The beaches here are relatively remote and crowd free.
The beaches here are relatively remote and crowd free. The surf can be challenging for general swimming, as can the rocks but it has a lovely vibe and the locals gather to socialise on the beach too, which adds to its interest as a place to visit. Authentic Bali! Pulukan Town is quote ordinary but nearby Medewi has a small strip of surf shops and good restaurants.

The newly established quaint place really stands out when you ride/pass by it on the beach front road. It is nicely set up with the infinity pool at the front and luscious garden everywhere you look. My 3nights stay was very pleasant. The room is cozy and quiet, it is equipped with everything you need with attention to details such as convenient locations to charge your phones. I love the touch of Indonesian &Balinese architectures and crafts. I looked forward to watch sunrise and sunset while sipping my drinks, maybe walking on the beach or swimming.
The restaurant serves great selection of breakfast. Fruit platter and the Health Bowl were my favorites. Lunch & Dinner menus offer variety choices from local dish, seafood to pastas, all are delicious with generous portions. I suggest to try the fish soup, shrimp with rice, bbq chicken with sweet potatoes, also their spaghetti napolitana. I highly recommend Wide Sands, it is indeed a great retreat by the beach.

Really nice beach hotel in the sense of a jurassic park beach. Beautiful black sand, wide beach and completely deserted.
The hotel is nice, clean with all the equipment you need. THe restaurant is on the beachside, very pleasant.
The hotel and hotel service are really at a high level. The hotel is literally on the beach. Beautiful waves and strong sea currents. The food at the hotel is also very good, I recommend
