We stayed a night before hopping on a boat to the Gilis. The location was perfect for transfers, and we were picked up from the airport by the hotel, which made life easy with a late night arrival.
Rooms were really comfortable - bar fridge and kettle in the room were welcomed. The hotel has a real colonial feel to it.
Breakfast was simple, with some eggs, rice, toast and home made jams and yoghurt.
Would stay again.

Rooms have AC, a small courtyard with garden and outdoor shower. The room also has a TV and the bed has a Mosquito Net. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect to catch the ferry to or from the Gili Islands, Lombok or Nusa Penida. Very affordable price with breakfast included. We also enjoyed dinner in the cafe and on the way back stopped by for lunch. We really enjoyed our stay and can without a doubt recommend the Zen Inn.

This hotel is a good choice for its price, especially for a one-night stay before catching the morning ferry to Nusa Penida. That’s exactly why we chose it—for a place to sleep—and overall, it met our expectations.
The room was reasonably clean, with fresh bedding, which was all we needed. However, this isn’t a place for a longer stay, so I’d only recommend it for a short stopover.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which added a nice touch to the experience.
Situated in Padangbai, a few steps from Padang Bai Beach, Puri Rai Hotel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Padangbai is a beautiful place with magnificent views and many accommodation places are dotted up the mountain side. The township itself is a vibrant little place mainly used as a place for catching a ferry to one of the islands off mainland Bali. There were many scuba divers in the area and it appeared that Padangbai was geared to people who were either going on scuba dives or travelling to the next island.

You don't need to stay over night unless your a diver, snorkelling this site can be done in two hours, come early morning to avoid the afternoon sea breeze. The taxi drivers are aggressive and more expensive than anywhere else in Bali, wonder why? It's run by an organised cartel.

We had never heard of PadangBai and only visited to catch the ferry to Nusa Lebongan. Pleasantly surprised to find this small town offering good restaurants, live music (Omani Omang), good diving (Absolute Dive), and pretty scenery.
The negative is the amount of plastic garbage in the sea and on the beaches. I don’t know if this is common to the region, but I strongly recommend the communities make a concerted effort to clean this up. The plastic garbage was appalling and detracted from the ambience.

The pier wasn't as bad as expected although the condition could be improved considering it's very busy and frequented by many tourists every day! Be careful if porter scam as someone will approach you asking to help and will charge you in the end for the service. If you need an assistance, do agree in advance on the fee.
Do note that a harbor tax is compulsory at IDR10,000 per person.

We stayed at Padangbai to catch the fast boat to Gili . We got up early as the drive in showed us a very pretty part of Bali we have never seen.
This is a very cute little fishing village and gateway to Lombok and all it's Islands. The locals are very friendly and honest. My husband left his mobile phone in the taxi and the hotel called the taxi driver who had it back in 5 minutes (he was thrilled at the 100,000 Rp roughly $10 AUD tip)
There was a good selection of restaurants on the waterfront offering lovely fresh Indonesian and Western food we loved the Ikan Bakkat (fish in banana leaves) spicy and delicious. The Cocktails did not disappoint either and my husband welcomed a few cleansing Bintang Beers.

The location, we landed in Bali and were to take boat to Gili Trawang next morning, It was one of best decision as we were stones throw from ferry point. The rooms were good, I was surpirised to see 3 swimming pools in property, the restaurant was also very good ans staff was also very helping. We could also keep our extra luggage at reception and travel to Gili freely as latee we reakised would have been tough to drag bags on Gili roads to hotel.
All in all very good stay if one has plans to go to Gili islands.
The owners are a very friendly local family and are original Padang Bai residents. They were extremely helpful and took great care of us, especially when my mum was sick for several days during our stay. Staying at Celagi, while on the budget side, gave us a wonderful insight into local life and culture. The breakfast was excellent and the view from the rooftop terrace over the harbour was always something to look forward to in the mornings.
Marcel's hospitality was exceptional, he was very informative, interesting and engaging to talk to. There is lots to be learnt about Balinaise culture and tradition from Marcel, he and his wife are excellent hosts. His beautiful home is well positioned on the hill overlooking Padang Bai, Incredible views here.
The breakfast buffet was good some good options for the price it was very close to the harbour which was practical for the ferry to Gili. Hotel helped with getting the ferry tickets. I recommend it to people going on a ferry and also on a budget because it’s cheap and has good food and close to the harbour
The guest house was good for a budget hotel. Staff were helpful with getting us a better price for the fastboat to Gili and checked us in on the boat and took us to the wharf. We enjoyed our time at the beach that they suggested we go to.
