If you’re planning to dive, theres nowhere more convenient to stay! Was able to walk right out of my room to the meeting place. Great breakfast on the beach, amazing reef for snorkeling 20ft in front, and the whole Blue Marlin team is amazing. Katon is an incredible instructor—can highly recommend him for the open water course!

If you’re looking for something affordable and easy, Rumah Tiga is totally fine for a few casual night’s stay. It’s on a very quiet road that can be a little hard to find. Definitely visit Classico pizza while you’re in the area!

Very clean, quiet, and relaxing stay. Staff was very nice and I loved my stay here. The rooms are spacious and it is so close to the beach.

Gili Air was amazing, the beaches are beautiful, you can walk out quite far into the sea at various points of the island. You can also walk around the whole island in approx one hour.
We did the snorkelling boat trip which was amazing as we saw the local turtles.
Definitely worth a visit.

Gili Air is a vibrant island attracting tourists worldwide, with much of it reportedly owned by foreigners - 90% apparently. Despite this, it retains a charming village vibe, making it ideal for families.
To experience the island, venture off the main drags to discover fantastic cuisine at local warungs. We especially loved Ruby's Cafe, run entirely by women, and the Pie Shop on the main strip. The island also offers excellent options for dining and relaxation, like Legends (perfect for a memorable Christmas lunch) and BASK on nearby Gili Meno, a fantastic day trip with opportunities for snorkelling.
Turtle Point is a must-visit for snorkelling, where you might spot turtles in their natural habitat. However, we were saddened to see boats dropping anchors on live coral, causing noticeable damage. Sustainable tourism is essential here, so please be mindful and support conservation efforts.
Getting around the island by bicycle is an absolute must—it transforms your experience and allows you to explore secluded spots. The friendly locals and lovely staff add to the welcoming atmosphere, often waving as you pass by on your bike.
A great tip: bring your water bottle! Many places on the island offer free water refills, a simple way to reduce plastic waste.

Gili Air is fantastic for a trip to disconnect... to dive, snorkel, eat good food, trip, chill, all without the chaos of Bali or other super touristy spots, and without hectic traffic and noise intruding into your quiet time.
Best as a spot for people not looking for a party or endless bottomless brunches or pubcrawls - go to Gili T or stay on Bali for those.
Gili Air is perfect for people newer to diving and wanting to build some confidence (like me!) or returning to diving after a long break, or for people looking to simply laze by a pool and do some yoga now and then.
"Ruby's" is the best Indo restaurant on the island, hands down... she has a bakery too, but try and find her restaurant for a gorgeous rendang.
"Makan La Vie" is my favourite international restaurant on the island with the best cocktails, incredible and consistently excellent menu and staff who are absolute gems. I'd move in there if I could.
"Kopi Susu" has the best coffee every which way you like it and the absolute yummiest breakfast, plus they open early.
"Radiant" has gorgeous cocktails and prime sunset-watching spot, wholesome and delicious food, and an outdoor gym/yoga studio etc to absolutely die for.

Gili Air is a beautiful island with beautiful, friendly people living there.
I took a 3 Islands boat tour and swimming with turtles and tropical fish in crystal clear waters was a joy. Every meal I had on the island was delicious and prepared with care. I thoroughly enjoyed the indonesian cooking class I took.
However, I was saddened by the amount of plastic and rubbish being washed up on some of the beaches and by piles of it lying around and being burnt in the open air. The collection facilities seems to be minimal. I saw people just throwing litter on the ground.
Also, the use of the ponies made me feel uneasy. Some seemed to be carrying within the load limits, but I did see 1 or 2 cases exceeding the number of people and materials advised. I tried to contact the Horses of Gili but couldn't get through.

The only way there is by ferry so pick a good one.
The only way there is by ferry so pick a good one. Ours told us it had ac but failed to mention it was broken. Uncomfortable 1.5 hour ride. Ferry back was crowded as it was raining so everyone was inside. BBQ on the beach for dinner is great as fish is fresh. The island is small so during peak season will get crazy and noise from some bars is quite loud.

Brilliant! No transport except horse and cart and push bike (some electric scooters). Pure island holiday! Constant climate, lovely people and varied choice of places to eat and drink. Easy to get around on pushbike or walking. Horse and cart if required for longer distance from port.

A beautiful stay on Gili Air. It feels so welcoming and beautiful as soon as you enter the hotel, and the room was very comfortable and bathroom clean and nice.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Particularly as I was not well with fever and they assisted me and my wife greatly with finding a local medic.
Very nice stay in Gili Air, almost in the beachfront.
The breakfast practically in the water is just great. And the freshly caught fish served in the evening in their restaurant is delicious!
Contrary to the other comments on this hotel, we were not disturbed by the noise at night.
I had a great stay at the hotel. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The hotel exterior is so beautiful with its small bungalows and pool. I recommend strongly to go there if you visit Gili Air.
Fantastic hotel on Gili Air where you can stay and relax in your bubble or enjoy the island life. The people that work there are amazing. We will definetly be back!
