Boasting an outdoor swimming pool on the top floor with panoramic views over Split, Dioklecijan Hotel & Residence offers a wellness center and a restaurant.

Breakfast had a good selection, although fresh fruit selection was not always great. Some days, mostly bowls of chopped up orange/ grapefruit. Better selection of melon and pineapple would have been great. At this price per night I would have expected this daily.

FAQs about hotels in Split

The Sunny Side of Croatia

Stunning Split stands proudly on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, and due to its great climate is called the Mediterranean Flower. It features eclectic architecture, spectacular views and delicious cuisine.

Split is centered around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian, a magnificent building constructed at the beginning of the 4th century AD and featuring limestone and marble towers, columns and courtyards. It lies in a bay decorated with white sails of yachts, as sailing is definitely Split’s big thing!

The city is full of architectural gems, one of which is St. Duje’s Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in the world, built in 305 AD and combining both Roman and Catholic influences. Nearby Varoš is a must-see, one of the city’s oldest parts, full of charming streets and beautiful houses.

Make sure you visit the Bačvice Beach and the Riva promenade, popular with locals and full of cafés and palm trees. While on the hunt for local specialities, try soparnik - wood fired dough filled with vegetables - or local soft drinks Pipi and Orela.

So just pack your bags and head to Split Airport! Booking.com has plenty of sunny apartments, friendly guest houses and well-equipped hotels for your Split adventure.

Stayed for 4 days in split.

Stayed for 4 days in split. Did most of the tourist activities; Krka national park, Hvar Island, Diocletians palace etc. It's a beautiful city. Very safe city, didn't run into any scammers or pickpockets, felt safe walking around at night and clean with lots going on for visitors. However, it is very very very busy and touristy. All the attractions are full of people (in September) and all the shops in the central city area are completely catered for tourists. English menu, expensive prices and lots of souvenir shops. If you like tourist areas, it's perfect for you. The people are very nice too and all speak close to perfect English. I suggest going to a different town or city too as Split can be explored in 2 days or less. The islands are very beautiful and the national park is gorgeous. The beaches are not that nice in Split but better elsewhere (islands or other smaller towns). Most public toilets cost 1 euro, it was hard to find a free one sometimes. Super walkable city too, most places are less than 30 minutes walk. Public transport is fine, lots of ferry trips and buses but it seems like the local people don't really like the tourists getting on the buses, especially the airport-split bus 37. There are shuttles for 10 Euro but if you're on a budget I suggest downloading Promet Split app and buying a ticket for 1.50 Euro. On our last day we actually took a ferry to Trogir for 8 euros and spent the day there, then took the bus to the airport for only 1.25 euros. It takes 1 hour on the ferry to trogir and 20 minutes from trogir to airport. The airport is very small. Bring something to eat there as once you get past border control there is only one small duty free shop and one smaller cafe that sells hot drinks and overpriced sandwiches that weren't very good. There is a better cafe upstairs before you go past security. Don't go too early its not busy at all and not much to do there.

Super beautiful with beautiful nature and several beaches. Just be prepared that there are stones and rocks on the beaches, so bring swimming shoes if you have, otherwise you can buy in the city for around 10€. Also be prepared to that it has become expensive in Split after they changed the currency to Euros, so eating out in restaurants is approximately the same prices as eating out at a nice restaurant in Sweden for example. There is some night life but not super much, we were there in mid August, and it was almost dead during night.

This was our first trip to Split and it lived up to the things we had heard about it. The park is beautiful, within it are places to seat and take a dip into the clear blue water. Split, has many shops, bakeries and eating places to suit your budget. The palace is definitely worth a visit, with live music in the evening. Very easy to get about if you're fairly fit. There are also tours around Split or to the islands.

Split has a beautiful old town, which has lots of shops, a food market every morning and lots of historical buildings and places to visit and walk around for free or a low price. We took a walking tour around the city whilst visiting to find out more about the history, we also climbed the bell tower to get lovely views and we listened to traditional croatian singing in the palace in town each morning- we would reccommend seeking this out! We also took a three islands boat trip, which included snorkelling and visiting another island- such a magical experience overall, well worth a visit!

    Astonishing place to visit!

Astonishing place to visit! Walking through the Diocletian Palace in Split is just like be back in time to the Roman Empire. It is very impressive that such a place could keep all these architectual gems even we understand the effort done in the last years to preserve them and also the restoration works in other parts. Really recommended experience!

The city is so full of history and character.

The city is so full of history and character. We recommend doing a tour as soon as you arrive in order to familiarize yourself with what else you would like to see. We did the 'Split Walking Tour with History Professor' and it was fantastic. He shared a lot of advice about what to see and we followed everything he suggested and had a fabulous time. We would definitely recommend a visit to Klis fortress which is a little out of town and can be visited by bus or taxi. We also had a roast lamb lunch at a local restaurant in the area of Klis called Restoran Perlica which we highly recommend. Amazing food and great value for money. Almost everyone in the restaurant were locals! We then visited the Island of Brac for a relaxing beach vacation. We could have done with one more day to visit some of the other cultural sights outside of the Diocletian palace.

We stayed here twice. A few days at the beginning of our trip to Croatia and a couple of days at the end. Communication with Nevena was spot on and Jago's help with our cases up and down from the 4th floor was an absolute godsend. Shower was one of the best we had. Balcony was quite small and the local pigeons seemed to love it so didn't sit out on it. Bastion is in a great spot for exploring (and getting lost)in the little streets of the old town. Also not too far from the port and the bus station for exploring further afield

This stay was pretty luxurious. After visiting all kind of different accommodations in Croatia this finishing one was really amazing. The room was so wonderfully dressed and filled with thoughtful and interesting art. The accommodation is located in the best are of the city centre of Split and makes the stay even more pleasant. You are welcomed with a starter bubble wine if you wish and the room has real good airco.

It has everything we needed in the room, and nice Seaview. About 7 mins walk to the old town , lots of restaurants, bars and shops. There's a supermarket down the road and a bakery off the other side of the road about 2 mins walk. The only downside is that the noise from the wind and rain gets really loud in the morning, and this kind of weather is really rare in May in Croatia
