We had a night over Pula (late evening flight) in late September and when we checked in, we were told that we were there for the last day of the season and they were going to close the hotel next morning at 10:00 am until next year.
They had a very good breakfast considering it was the last day of the season!

Pula has been drawing visitors to its sunny shores since Roman times. Many an empire fought over its strategic Istrian Peninsula location, but thankfully they left its monuments largely intact. None is more impressive than huge Pula Arena, a Roman amphitheatre just back from the port.
The Temple of Rome and Augustus is a wall from another temple has been incorporated into the 10th-century Communal Palace on the cobbled square which occupies the site of the former Roman forum. The Arch of Sergii was a triumphal memorial and the Twin Gates and nearby Gate of Hercules provided access through the Roman walls.
Today’s walls are medieval and skirt a hill topped with a Venetian castle housing the Istrian History Museum. Halfway up are the Roman theatre remains, accessible via Pula Archaeological Museum.
The 6th-century Basilica of St Mary Formosa has mosaics similar to those in Ravenna across the Adriatic and Pula Cathedral was originally from the same century, but got rebuilt over 800 years later.
For many though, Pula’s wonderful beaches and turquoise seas are the biggest attractions. Its undulating coastline is peppered with luxury hotels, resorts and cheap apartments on Booking.com, all easily accessible from Pula Airport. Some look towards the Brijuni National Park islands whose waters offer some great diving spots.

We absolutely loved exploring the charming city of Pula, where ancient history blends seamlessly with medieval architecture and modern life. The city has a wonderful Mediterranean climate, and even in October, the beaches were stunning, with pleasantly warm water for swimming. Pula truly offers a unique mix of culture, history, and natural beauty that made our visit unforgettable.

Difficult to give a true honest opinion because my stay was at the end of season. Big Lidl supermarket about 1.5 miles away. Advantageous for shopping to eat in as there were no restaurants close bye. That is ideal for someone on a budget having the good kitchen facility

The Roman amphitheater is amazing! Nice size city. Very scenic and walkable. We'd previously been to Dubrovnik, Split, and Hvar so decided to try Pula. Would go back during summer as more tours would be available than in mid-October.

Situated at the northern end of the Adriatic Sea, Pula has a great blend of cultures and nations across the millennia -- Roman, Venetian, Italian, Austian and Croatian. This melange of cultures is reflected in the local cuisine and architecture. Please be sure to visit the Roman amphitheater and the historic Pula castle, with the impressive ZeroStrasse below.

We had an awesome stay! It's been labelled as two starts hotel, but it's such a beautiful historical building that it definitely deserves more. Staff was great, we even extended our stay and they were super flexible about it. I'm a local from Croatia - so not really a tourist, and I appreciate this type of accommodation much more than plastic, soulless, newly build hotels! With a bit of refurbishing, Hotel Veli Joze could be the most desirable authentic location!
Comfortable and clean apartment. Well equiped kitchen with a huge table for all family members to dine comofortably. 2 bathrooms. Helpful host that was willing to share stories about the history of a region, Croatian lifestyle and interesting places to go. Apt located in rather quiet area. Local coffee shop next to the house. Place worth coming back
Suzana was very communicative and easy to deal with. Although she was unable to be there to welcome us, she made it very clear where to park and how to access the apartment.
The apartment was very clean and comfortable and only a 7 minute drive to Pula Airport.
We will be sire to stay here again when we revisit Croatia in the future
