Flores is the best place to stay outside of Guatemala city...
Flores is the best place to stay outside of Guatemala city to see most of the touristic attractions. Excursions to all of the monuments in Peten region are possible from the hotels or many small agencies in the town, as well as transfers to Palenque, Belize, and Lake Atitlan.

The area of Flores is lovely and fun to explore.
The area of Flores is lovely and fun to explore. It is not a large area so if you are looking for days of exploring you need to go elsewhere. If you are looking for a relaxed, yet charming, few days then this is where to go.

The bright colors of the building and the nice sunset views by the water are a great + to this place, and it is very easy to get around
I recommend trying out the street food @tacospeches, very good and super cheap
The town is located 1h30 drive from the ruins of Tikal, and up to 6 shuttles leave daily to get you there
Would recommend around 3 days in Flores!

The island has really noce restaurants and night activities.
The island has really noce restaurants and night activities. it is really easy to get around and people is willing to help you with directions.
Prices are much higher on the island, so is better to buy the stuff you need (sun block for example) outside of Flores.
We had a local guide that took us for the sunrise on tikal were you get to enter the park at 4AM and walk in the jungle still at night.
Then we did the sunset in Yaxha which is amazing.
Flores is a 10 min drive from the airport, so its a really good point for staying.

Loved the walk around Flores and all the little shops.
Loved the walk around Flores and all the little shops. Great ice cream place on lakeshore. Yummy !
When we got tired from walking after 5 miles that day( not all there) we hired a tuk tuk to bring us back to the hotel. Will definitely be returning there for a longer stay.
Boat tours looked interesting for a future adventure.
We drove and had to get used to the one way streets to get around Flores and find our hotel but so worth the effort. Parking was not an issue though. We parked at hotel and took off on foot

Airlines are a mess.
Airlines are a mess. Avianca overbooked my flight into Flores and was booked the next day. Tag Airlines delayed 2 hours and 15 minutes my flight into Guatemala City. I have been seating at the airport in Flores over 4 hours and I am expected to get to Guatemala City around 0:30 Am (I was supposed to arrive at 10:15 pm)

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Flores
The hotel and its location are unique for those seeking tranquility in a beautiful and secluded place that is not captured by the great hustle and bustle of Flores or Tikal. The entire complex with its bungalows and houses is excellently maintained and tastefully decorated. From the balconies one has a view of the lakes. Due to the seclusion, it is not only very quiet at night, but also so dark that the place is ideal for observing the night sky.
The hotel itself is maybe the best one in town. The external colours and outdoor painting are on point. The reception did help us very well. Rooms are quite old fashioned, but large and they have a perfect ensuite bathroom (great shower). The hotel has a rooftop bar (not always open) which has a perfect view and is the ideal way to end your day.
The staff was very accommodating The hotel was clean and close to the bridge to walk across to Flores Isle. The pool is lovely as well as the common area on the second floor.
The fast food chicken restaurant at the bridge is great.
I think staying at this hotel is better than staying on the island.
