Lives up to its name. Eco-lodge, hidden off the Rio Dulce. About 30min from Livingston, and they have tour options you can book (if you are able to meet the min. Persons required) they are more affordable than doing it on your own. River was great to hang in. The family dinners were also excellent, and folks really interacted with each other across groups.

Location is beautiful. We loved using the Mayan Sauna and swimming in the River. The food they cook on site is delicious home cooked food - dinner is fresh homemade bread, vegetable soup and a main dish. They were able to easily accommodate vegan diet. The dinners were a a highlight of the stay. Plenty of space to hang in a hammock, and read or play games at tables. It rained most of our stay and even without being able to kayak around we were able to enjoy our stay. The staff are all very helpful and assisted with booking tours, shuttles, etc.

Julio’s cabana was newly built and very spacious. He just finished the new porch overhang the day before my arrival! I really liked the rustic feel of the home, and how private it was. I was the only one on the property during my stay. I stayed in the private room, but took a look upstairs at the loft. There are multiple beds in an open floor layout, with mosquito netting to ensure a comfortable sleep. There are kayaks available for a small extra fee, making getting around on the river very easy - especially if you have friends nearby, would like to visit the thermal waters, or grab dinner at Restaurante Viajero. Julio also has a well stocked kitchen if you will be doing your own cooking, as well as an EcoFilter water purifier. Loved my stay! Thank you Julio and your family for making me feel welcome.

I loved my bungalow , I stayed in BPG and room was clean , well maintained and the air conditioner worked very well my entire visit. They provide tv, drinking water, there’s a beautiful patio and the views are breathtaking. Breakfast options were delicious, can’t go wrong with Captain breakfast and everything cooked and tasted perfect. Friendly waitstaff at the restaurant and at the front desk. Thank you for Villa caribe for making a last minute change for me and accommodating so graciously. Housekeeping and other staff equally friendly for this solo female traveler trying to learn Spanish in this beautiful country. Thank you!

Great spot on the Rio Dulce from which to visit other places...
Great spot on the Rio Dulce from which to visit other places on the river away from the congestion and noise of the towns of Livingston and Rio Dulce (actually Fronteras). The manatee preserve, the island of birds (Isla de Pájaros), Burnt Key (Cayo Quemado) and the canyon of the Rio Dulce are all relatively close. We enjoyed having lunch over at Mini-Mike’s Juke Joint on Burnt Key and at Casa Nostra in Livingston. Both of which have their own docks so we went directly by boat (arranged by Tenamit Maya for very reasonable prices).
