The apartment is in an ideal location, close to everything you need: the beach, shops, restaurants, and the bus stop. It has 2 large bedrooms and a great view from the balcony where you can see the sunrise and enjoy your coffee while listening to the waves. The pool was clean, with shaded areas which was perfect for the kids. The landlord was very friendly and waited for us as we arrived very late. He made sure we had beach towels and checked on us the next day to see if we needed anything.

We had a studio with 2 floors, the decor inside was beautiful and the balcony was lovely. The pool area was lovely as was the sunset terrace. We loved our stay here.
Stalos beach is just down the hill about a 12 minute walk, where you’ll find lots of beach clubs and restaurants. Chania is easy to get to using a bus at the end of the road, cost us €2 one way and took about 15/20 minutes, but that goes by quickly, they run every 20 minutes. You should definitely visit Chania a few times it’s stunning.
We went end of September/start of October and everything was open and George the host provided us with a huge folder of suggestions such as bars, nice walks, booking taxis, vineyards near by etc which was a nice touch.
Within 250 metres of Kato Stalos Beach, Melina’s House offers accommodation with a well-equipped kitchenette and a furnished balcony overlooking the Cretan Sea.

Melina's House is situated up the road from the main road, which is really nice, because the main road has a lot of traffic. It's only about 300 metres to the main road, and you'll find the best coffee in Kato Stalos there at Trés Jolie; they have plant milk! And great restaurants like Maria's. The bus stop is also right there on the main road (the stop is called out at "Maria's - Kato Stalos"), and it's a 7-10 minute bus ride to Agii Apostoli, and maybe 15 minutes to Xaniá. The beach is only 50 metres from the main road, with lots of tavernas on the beach.
We checked out the nearby bigger towns like Agia Marina and Platanias, but Kato Stalos is so much nicer. The sunbeds are further apart and everything is more quiet. If you want a night out, Agia Marina is only 1,5 km away and you can easily walk.
Melina and Adonis were so nice and helpful, and helped us with everything we needed. I got a cold from the A/C, so they fixed a fan for me. I had questions about speciality shops, and they checked it for me!
Our room was cleaned all the time and there was complimentary homemade marmalade and honey in our room.
10/10 stay, we warmly recommend!

Great location although it would be useful to give accurate information on how to find the small access road off the main road once you leave the highway.
The hotel itself was great and has good views over the coastline. It is also close to loads of restaurants.
The owner is very amiable and gifts a small bottle of local extra virgin olive oil with the hotel name when you check out as a useful aide memoire.

Stalos is a small and quiet town, at 30 minutes drive from Chania, with a beautiful beach and good tavernas. If you prefer to be far away from touristic and crowded places and if you have a car, this is the perfect place to be.

We like this area due to the beach, the local tavernas and the hotels. Kimatogi is our favourite taverna with delicious specials every day and our favourite hotel is Renieries on the top of the hill, with beautiful view and with the family athmosphere.
You can easily go to Chania with the bus which stops many places in Stalos. From this area the tourist buses also can pick you up easily if you want to visit Elafonissi, Balos/Gramvousa,Samaria Gorge but also to the other area of the Island.
Or with going by car it's also easy to get around and it's near to a junction to the Speed way.

Too quiet not enough to do and see.
Too quiet not enough to do and see. Restaurants not typically Greek mainly serving pizza and pasta. Couldn't get coffee before 9.am. There was no bakery. A lot of properties very run down. Very few general retail shops. It was better to catch the bus into Chania

We booked this hotel to be close to Chania but were very pleasantly surprised about what Stalos had to offer. We spent more time there than expected as it had a good selection of restaurants for both lunch and dinner. Lovely beach and a short(but busy) bus ride to Chania. An ideal base.

We have very fond memories of our stay in Crete at Sofoklis Apts. The apartment was clean and equipped with everything we needed, from kitchen appliances to products such as coffee, tea, olive oil, sugar, jam, butter, orange basket, including a delicious welcome treat and a bottle of wine.
The hosts are very nice, helpful and welcoming.
I definitely recommend everyone to visit Sofoklis Apartments!

Fantastic place! Cosy hotel practically on the beach, located by the main road of Stalos, close to everything - shops, bars, restaurants, bus stop, cafe and bakery. We had a great time!
