The pool is amazing, really deep and large; perfect for escaping from the heat. The breakfast is very good; there are many options and delicious homemade biscuits too. The location is perfect as it is overlooking Plakias but far enough from the crowds. The staff is overall good and attentive. They gave us very good tips on local restaurants and beaches.

Everyone at Plakias wants you to have a relaxing and memorable time. Menus are explained to you with enthusiasm and shopkeepers welcome you. Our apartment was at the western end of the town, above a nicely styled cafe, close to restaurants, bars and the lovely smaller Skinos Beach. It was an older style and dated apartment. Our apartment was positioned to have the sleeping area avoid direct sun. It had reliable aircon, a functional bathroom with bigger than usual shower area and large terrace. We enjoyed hours sitting on the terrace looking out to sea. Helpful Cafe owner who has the keys. That Cafe services the beach lounges on beach below. Attentive cleaning staff.
We ate at Throubi and Muses.

This is a fantastic place for a very reasonable price. The apartment I had is really spacious, bright, and very clean. It has a large balcony with gorgeous views. Everything was prepared with such care. The owner even gave me a bottle of olive oil and homemade sweets. She was extremely kind and welcoming. I would go back there in a second. I highly recommended this place.

The name in Greek means "flat" but the approach and coastline are quite mountainous and dramatic. Small hotels and many beachfront restaurants & cafes. The large crescent bay of sandy beach and the harbour provide a varied and yet not too busy destination.

Plakias is a beautiful place.
Plakias is a beautiful place. Not so big it feels overwhelming but big enough to have a good selection of nice bars and Tavernas to visit. The people are friendly, and the streets are clean. The gorge that you drive through to get to Plakias is also spectactular.

Plakias is a small, quiet town which has not yet been ruined...
Plakias is a small, quiet town which has not yet been ruined by mass tourism, and so stands out from other places on the southern side of the island. It has a cute waterfront promenade flanked by a wide range of shops, cafes, and restaurants, most of which seem to serve decent if not excellent food. There is a long sandy beach, with shallow and limpid waters, and a small river dissecting the town in two and hosting a small flock of barbary ducks. Although distances in Crete can be difficult to handle, Plakias is also a good base to explore the surrounding coastline, and some of the truly impressive dune beaches to the west (Orthi Ammos) and the east (Triopetra, Agios Pavlos) are well within reach.

Last minute booking coming off the beach to save us a trip back to Malia. Lovely hotel. Bed was comfortable and shower was hot. Breakfast was enjoyable and crossed the road to eat it on the seafront. Would recommend for a short stay. Would book again if in the area.

The town is small and cosy, and there are nice places to visit around Plakias during the day.
We were in room 117 with a beautiful view of the garden and mounatins.
What we loved about the hotel: the central location, the open and nice view, the very clean and modern room, fresh towels, delicious breakfast, and the warm welcome by Olga and her team! They provided us excellent advice and recommendations which enhanced our stay in Plakias and overall in Crete! Thank you for making our stay unique and memorable!
The flat was a very pleasant surprise as it’s not often that the photos are a true representation of reality but this place is exactly as shown.
It’s very clean ,well equipped and has amazing views all round.it’s a fact that you need a car but then generally in Crete a car is a must as there’s so much to see ,especially in this area.
The lady with whom we communicated was extremely polite and we appreciated her approached.
The Sofia Hotel was beautiful and a unique experience. The hotel offered tranquility, good food with a fantastically beautiful location (Plakias). We were also very welcomed by a top host (Vagelis) and other staff (family) of the hotel. Definitely highly recommended!
The hotel is very well located with a stunning view of Plakias seashore. It has been recently redecorated, and everything is brand new! Bathroom is amazing, kitchen is super-fresh and very well equipped.
