The receptionist was one of the most helpful of all and we received a full set of recommendations for all sorts of activities around the area right at our arrival.
The hotel is small and so was the room too. But it was clean and quiet and the air conditioning worked well. Since we spend mot of our time on the beach, the room size was not any real issue for us. Anyway had to do some work on our vacation as well and luckily these hours took place in places we had more spacious accommodation. For basic vacation with only a normal amount of luggage it would have been perfect.
Hiona Holliday Hotel is located only two minutes walk from the Palaikastro village center having multiple nice tavernas and cafes, supermarkets etc. And a 10 minute drive from the Vai palm beach. But since it is located just outside village center, it is very peaceful place to stay.
A nice small and well maintained pool area as well.
Within 800 metres from Kouremenos Beach, in Palaikastro village, Hotel Marina Village offers rooms with a furnished balcony, set amidst a lush flowery garden.

I had only booked for one night and unwittingly reserved the very small studio. Small as it is, it's perfect (it's effectively a tiny detached house), located at the top of an olive grove, with views over Palaikastro and the sea. There's a small fridge and a kettle + coffee, tea, etc. No aircon, but a very good fan. Everything is brand new and well thought out. It would be the perfect place to write a novel (or at last get started on one). Excellent parking and very easily accessible just on the "outskirts" of tiny Palaikastro, on a road with hardly any traffic (I'm allergic to traffic noise). Totally quiet. There's a decent mini market (and more shops) a 5-minute drive away. I couldn't see a WiFi network, but reception for my UK phone provider was excellent. Andrea, the host, is super welcoming and helpful. I will definitely return for a longer stay.

Palekastron is a nice peaceful village with some good...
Palekastron is a nice peaceful village with some good tavernas, where you can taste a very good food at a reasonable price. It is about 1,5 km away from the Kouremenos beach.
Palekastron is also a good starting point to visit Vai and another nice beach a few km further on (near the archeologic site) in one direction (to the north) and Zakros with it's very attractive beach in another direction (to the south).
One can really relax and enjoy in Palekastron.
Cleanliness and quiet surroundings, no loud music played around the hotel making the stay very relaxing.

Everything was great, we used the pool after our check-in and the view was amazing! Our room was very clean and comfortable with an external space very useful. We eat in the hotel restaurant and it was great with typical food and dishes very tasty!
Nice and clean play with good location unfortunately we got the room at the back of the hotel with the view of ruined parking lot and road with tiny balcony so it wasn’t a great place to spend your evening and relax
The hotel stands at the of a village, not in it center. So it is really quiet. On the other hand, it’s fairly close to the beaches as well as to Minoan archeological sites.
