End of season get your sightseeing in - perfect weather for it! Matala trip to see the Caves & Hippy-village was wonderful - quad bike trip - Iraklion etc etc hire a car, good pricing. Bus pricing is even better., takes from airport to Malia in less than hour for approx 4/5euro
Malia Main strip is barely open (which suits many non-partying folk) witnessing the locals wind down & wake-up to their own life/priorities was wonderful. Watching little ones head to school - national OXi Day parade.
Weather in late 20s mid Oct to early 20’s towards November… cooler evenings so take some warmer clothing.

Malia town is a great hub for young adults as it offers a party vibe and I can imagine at night it is pumping with energy, music and young people. There are tonnes of restaurants, cafes, bars and nightclubs so lots to entertain. However, we stayed out of the main hub at Camelot Royal about 20 minute walk from Malia town and we enjoyed it so much as it was better for a family vibe. Close to nice beaches and many tavernas, water sports and activities. I would say if you are a young adult, do stay close to Malia town but for families, couples stay a bit out of the main hub for peace and quiet.

Some very good restaurants inside the old town very nice for short trips . You must try the Avli restaurant & San Giorgio be sure to book to guarantee a table . Regarding the Malia stirip unless you’re very young avoid at all cost

Malia is the good place for youngsters/Girls/Honeymoon spot. But not for middle aged people. Lot of shouting in the midnight from young boys /Girls. The beaches are very well cleaned and sufficient space for swimming.

We went off season which for us was perfect, I think in full season it would be rather "touristy", so if that's your bag then its a great location. Went to a number of restaurants and can say they were all excellent.

I went just as the off season begun and this was a perfect time for me. The Theo Star Beach Hotel is a great place to stay, close to everything though far enough away for a quiet relaxing stay.
The old town of Malia is a must and the food in restaurants like Milos, Avli and Zorbas is not only great value but some of the best food I had whilst island hopping from Crete to Rhodes to Kos.

I Really enjoyed staying at Le Palme and even booked an extra night to stay! Kind helpful and friendly and welcoming owners of Le Palme, truly great hosts!
It is in a very good location close to shops and bus stops for Iraklio and other places and the accommodation is excellent for facilities and super clean, the WiFi works perfectly!
I can highly recommend this place to stay and I would definitely stay again while I am in Crete because it is far superior accommodation to the places I have stayed while in Crete so far, Thank you!
It was my first time in Malia and I didn’t know what to expect but Socrates Hotel exceeded my expectations . The stuff was lovely especially the receptionist, Klaudia . She would answer any of our questions, she always had a smile on her face , she would recommend us traditional shops and restaurants and she would help us live the whole experience of Malia .Our room was clean , the beds comfortable and the breakfast good . The you so much Socrates Hotel for exceptional hospitality x
Beautiful furniture / facilities, the best staff we could have imagined, nice Pool, we also really enjoyed eating in the hotels restaurant during the day, really tasty and also very cheap! Great cocktails as well ;)! As we didn’t really like the party town Malia, we were glad we had a hotel as quiet and relaxing as Drossia Palms, that made us forget the loud party road!
Located almost on the sand beach and 20 min walk to Old Malia. Sunbeds and umbrellas for hotel guests. Very clean room and well kept territory. Breakfast was good enough for 3 stars, all the food was fresh and tasty. Nice helpful staff (special thanx to little girl Melana? she provided us with beach towels in such a professional manner :)))
Great hotel ..we liked the room and the location. The staff are very professional and they all speak English, which is not very common in other parts of Crete. Well done to all staff at reception, at the pool bar, breakfast room and housekeeping.
