This is a great hotel if you're spending a night or two in transit. It is maybe a fifteen minute walk to the ferries- and just steps away from the old town center where you can get many choices for food. The windows are soundproof, so you will have a quiet sleep- but the walls and hallway can get a bit noisy with people coming and going from ferries. The maid service was quick and efficient- and the aircon works great! Breakfast was mediocre- some bread and slices of cheese- and some hard boiled eggs. The coffee is instant- which serves the caffeine addiction, but does not add to coffee culture at all. The room for breakfast has no windows, so we were in and out very quickly. Good value for money

We loved this city!! We only stayed 5 nights (4 days) and we could have used a few more days (or a lifetime) to explore it. The city was bustling, people were friendly and fun, lots to see, great walking on the shore (to the lighthouse and beaches). I'd say parts of Knossos was a bit overrated, but still worth a trip. We want to return, rent a car, and stay all over Crete to check out this island. Plus, we found THE BEST vegan restaurant ever: Veganato and basically ate lunch there every day. Check them out, if you can. Even my kid, who is definitely not a vegan, LOVED their food.

Heraklio is worth the stay to see Knossos and the Archeological Museum. The walk out to the light house is charming. We were there in December, off tourist season, which is perfect for us - not to hot and not too packed with visitors. There was still plenty of restaurants open.

easy sightseeing of the town itself in a day : town center with churches, venetian fountain / loggia, a quiet walk away from crowds along the city walls, a scenic jog /walk along the long harbour breakwater to see the fortress, marina.

We took a taxi from the airport and a local bus to Knossos but otherwise everything was easily accessible on foot. There are a range of shops from ordinary supermarkets to tourist stuff to up-market. The ice-creams were everywhere!
The town is nice but the authorities could make much more of it: we went past a huge park which was closed to the public, the Old Town is surrounded with a bastion, but no obvious access to the top of the walls. The city map we picked up is completely useless to a tourist.

Heraklio is a great location to visit several key historical sites e.g. Knossos Palace and museums. It is also a great location to stay and serve as a base location for day trips to other villages/towns within Crete or even other islands.

The hotel staff I interacted with (from more than one hotel) were all super friendly and helpful. Heraklion is a lovely little town however the cab drivers are all shifty sharks that charge you whatever they think they can get away with. Actually, there were a couple of cab drivers that were OK but most of them ripped me off

Location (very near the centre and a few minutes away from the harbour area), extremely helpful staff, excellent buffet breakfast and clean and comfy rooms. The hotel’s restaurant food is good too. Reception staff can give you a list of day trips and will book them for you. Good internet connection. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. 15-minute walk to KTEL coach station (for other destinations in Crete). 10-minute walk to the Archaelogical museum where you can also catch the bus to Knossos.
This hotel is a gem. It is not a beach hotel, but is located very convienently for a visit to Heraklion and departure by ferry. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast is varied, with regional items to make you feel you are really in Greece, but specifically on the Island of Crete. The room I was assigned surprised me and really went beyond what I was expected. I have stayed in this hotel now for the fourth time and every time it gets better and better.
Good for business trip. Don’t choose it if you are a tourist, maybe just for two-three nights only. Close to city center and harbor. Pool on the roof is useless, very small and always busy with other people or their towels. But view from there is stunning.
Bed and room were very comfortable. Lobby is not what I would expect from 5* hotel. But coffee at the breakfast was much better than anywhere in Crete.
Very modern and cozy hotel in the middle of Heraklions City Centre. We stayed there two times during our stay in Crete and liked it very much. The staff is super friendly, the rooms are very spacious and well equipped with a kitchenette. Thank you again for the upgrade for our second stay 😊 the room was beautiful.
A beautiful little hotel. Excellent location, clean and modern in design. The bed was the most comfortable in the whole of Crete. Giannis was welcoming and kind. Have already recommended Domus Ariadne to some friends and highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Heraklion.
