The room was large for the price paid. Very clean and quiet. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We liked that the pool was not right by the rooms, keeping the noise down. Plenty of parking.

The Messene area is not great for hotels, and Kleopatra is definitely one of the better places that you can stay. Just be aware that it is on the main road that has lots of traffic -- I did not realize this -- and request at your booking time a room facing the back of the hotel so you don't hear the trucks go by. Even though I hadn't requested a back-facing room, they thankfully gave us one. The view was not great (looking out onto rather junky backyards) but I so appreciated not being on the street. The manager of the hotel is tirelessly helpful and kind. The facility itself is clean, modern (elevator!), well-maintained. The room was fairly large by Greek standards and very comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding (he made us fried eggs to order).

Maria and Giorgio were attentive and flexible and very kind. The apartment was perfect - so peaceful with the most stunning views over olive groves down to the bay and up to the mountains.
The best part was that we needed to be in Kalamata general hospital everyday and we could walk there through the olive groves in 20 minutes. That walk was the perfect way to de-stress.
