There is nothing to be like at the properly once my and my family went there we realise that all five star reviews and images are fake .
The place is abonden the restaurant of the place is closed and not working the pool and it’s bar does not work the activities are abonden with spider webs and dust and does not work .
The location of the place is horrible every restaurant it’s 45 min walk , imagine in that heat with two small children how is to walk for 45 min just to eat something .
We were forced to rent a car to actually discover other restaurant and other parts of the island .
The beach is not near the place is at least 20min walk .
The beach is rocky and they have one place with sun bed that the first day it costs us €15 euro with two bottle of water however on the next day the staff of that place were putting towels to look like the sun beds are taken. But in reality they wanted people with money to take them only not like us with children with limited budget !
The staff of the hotel they did not speak English it is consisted by elderly man around 60-65 years old who does not speak English who seem to be the security as well as at night reception does not work !
A woman who seem to smoke at reception and be disrespectful towards guests .
A young boy who probably he also wonder why is he still working in there who works everything information providing glasses from the non working restaurant and at reception and anywhere else needed.
Also an Owner of the place that sleeps with his family and their dog who seem to use the pool after guest leave when it closes including the dog !!!

The rooms are dirty and old and the showers did not work and they only sparkle water, floor dirty when we arrive with some spots cannot clarify from what , the AC never cleaned covered in dust !
The canal of the bathrooms destroyed and not fixed by health and safety standard dangerous for children !

The hosts are super hospitable, friendly, helpful and not intrusive. The flat is very large and is well equipped (large fridge, kettle, coffee powder, washing up liquid, cleaning products, shampoo and much more). The bus stop is a 2-minute walk away, so you can easily visit many places on the island (Lindos, Rhodes town, etc.) from there. The little town of Afandou is very authentic. You feel at home from the very first moment.
We will definitely be back and look forward to seeing you again!

Afantou was a good place to explore the east coast from - very accessible to Rhodes Town and Lindos and all places in-between.
Everyone was friendly. We ate at tavernas in the square by the school - both excellent.
We found the streets of Afantou quite muddly, but soon got used to them - and it added to the charm of the place.
You definitely would benefit from having a car so that you can access the various wonderful beaches and explore great places inland.

It was very quiet in the middle of October.
It was very quiet in the middle of October. It's a local village, so there´s not many tourist services available. Or anything special to see.
But it's located very conveniently close to Rhodes town, Faliraki and other attractions. The beach is also pretty good.

I think, this is the best location, if you are planning to...
I think, this is the best location, if you are planning to travel on Rhodes island. This beach is not that much developed as other commercial beaches, so you wont find here any hotel, but it still offers sun beds and some restaurants. Beach is long, so you never feel the amount of all tourists around. Afandou village is a little bit far from the beach, so you always need a car to go to the city or to enjoy some services. If the property owner say, the beach is just 800m far, you need to understand, that this is 800 m of straight distance (not by the roads), while walking that distance uphill or downhill in 30+degrees on a sharp sun with all equipment might be tough. There is a small road train connecting village, beach and nearby center of services, but even by a car it takes 15 minutes.
I think the best time to visit this place is after middle of June or September, we had daily over 30 degrees. The sand in the beach was too hot and the water temperature was around 24 degrees.
If you rent a car, you can reach all famous beaches from this location easily, it just 15 minutes to reach Faliraki and beaches on this side, 25 minutes to Rhodes port and old city and 25 minutes to the beaches on other side like Lindos beach of Pefki beach, both sandy (I recommend to arrive there before 10am, to go down the hill and park in front of the beach, otherwise there is a traffic jam). We had been there with a small kid, so we didn´t tried to go to Lindos Pantheon or southern beaches.
If you choose a location for your stay too south (Lindos or Pefkos), or too north (Faliraki), you will be probably lazy to travel to other beaches due to distance.

Afantou itself is quite boring and not a very nice place. There are supermarket and restaurants and so on but probably you don't want to hang around there a lot. Definitely, you need a rental car, parking on the streets could be a little bit tight. with car you can go everywhere. The nearest beach was also not very attractive.

The house we stayed in was very spacious but you need to hire a car to get around the local area. It is easy to walk into the village where there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Afantou makes a good base to explore from. We visited lots of good local beaches, Lindos and Rhodes town all within a half hour drive on a main road.

Not much around the hotel in walking distance but hotel provides shuttle bus to afantou beach and can walk into afantou town however not much going on up there, small supermarket right next door, 20 second walk and a large hotel about 10 min walk away. Easy to use public transport buses ( cash only ) can get the bus to the water park which was great and falaraki town and beach which is great. Lots to do in falaraki - water sports, pubs, bars, market shops, restaurants, mini golf, night clubs and renting motors :)
Our stay in Rhodes was truly unforgettable thanks to the incredible support from Natalia, whose invaluable help in a difficult moment saved the situation, and the caring attitude of the owner. Everything was wonderful: a clean and cozy room, an excellent continental breakfast. Without your involvement, our vacation could have turned into a disaster, but thanks to you, everything turned out perfectly. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you.
We had a very pleasant weekly stay. Villa Petra is surrounded by a magnificent and well-kept garden and is equipped with all comforts. The location, at Afantou beach, is optimal because it is placed halfway between Rodhes and Lindos.
A special mention to the thoughtful welcome of John and Michalia, and above all to the homemade delicacies of Michalia.

They put us in another horrible hotel first 2 nights with no wifi, dirty and very poor standard.
rooms were excellent, staff was friendly and very hospitable and it has the perfect location in between the rhodes center and famous beaches, approximately with the same distance to must-see spots.
