It was handy for a stop over and cheap for the area.
The 17th-century Old Well Inn is in the town of Barnard Castle, with a traditional cosy bar and spacious en suite rooms that each have a TV and tea/coffee making facilities.

The room was spacious and the breakfast was very good. The best part, however, was the fact that we felt really welcome with our dog. Not just the general „Ok, if we must, we’ll accept your dog too“, but the feeling that they were really happy to have dogs stay. Thank you very much, we hope to be back soon.

We had a great weekend break in this B&B, which is easily accessible from Richmond. The location allows access to Wensleydale and Swaledale within 30mins, and we had evening meals in Richmond.
The room was excellent due to being large, provided with chairs & table, four poster bed, and views across the garden and fields.
The breakfast was served by the friendly owners, with plenty of choice, all freshly cooked. Everything we tried was very enjoyable.

We stayed in the Parlour. What a fantastic cottage, exceptionally clean and well furnished throughout. The interior was decorated with art deco touches and comfy furniture. The kitchen was well stocked and the facilities were great & easy to use.
The original features of the cottage are stunning, stone floors and walls meeting modern design.
The bathroom was wonderful with standalone bath and spacious shower.
One of the nicest short stay locations I’ve visited and I’ve been a few over the years!
