The staff were especially lovely, friendly and accommodating. As a female staying alone (for work) I felt fully safe and looked after by every staff member I came across, they couldn’t do enough for me. Had a gorgeous meal for dinner, breakfast was equally lovely. The view from my room was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable.

Moresby Hall Country House Hotel, hotel in Workington

Set in Whitehaven, 31 km from Wasdale, Moresby Hall Country House Hotel offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant.

Thank you everyone at Moresby Hall. We enjoyed a weekend stay at the end of November and could not have been made more welcome. We loved everything about our visit. We chose the location because it was private and rural. The hotel was absolutely fascinating, the staff were all friendly and professional at all times. We enjoyed the warm welcome, open fire, cosy bar area, delicious food, fabulous room and stunning location to the maximum.

Fine town with easy access to beautiful lake district. Has all you need in close proximity. Lots of dodgy driving in town. Stay frosty! If you're exploring the lakes this is great access and after adventure comforts.

Workington was better than expected Plenty of shops and parking Flowers were blooming and very colourful on a lot of the streets It was a good place for us to stay as a base, we travelled around the coast line up to Gretna where a wedding was going on. We went around the Lake district and found St Bees a lovely place to watch surfers , swimming and peddle boarding and lots of children enjoying the pools after the sea had gone out I am of the older generation so like to people watch very relaxing

It's one of the start points for the C2C cycle or walk routes - the others are at Whitehaven or St Bees. Both those are much nicer than Workington. I ate in the Henry Bessemer - a Wetherspoon's pub, which was good value WYSIWYG. Cheaper there than the awful hotel Waverley by several quid - and drinks much better value too.

A busy little town near the Solway Coast.

A busy little town near the Solway Coast. Tricky one way system until you become used to it. The town has a number of takeaway establishments but would benefit from more eateries. A good leisure centre and nice walks in this area.

Fairly quiet place not too much to do in workington itself. Ideal to use as base. We used wetherspoons quite alot for eating and drinking it's about a 5 minute walk away just past the bus station.

We loved it, the room was as huge. We had a double bed, table and two chairs and a love seat. Everything was thought of ironing board and iron, hairdryer, tea/coffee etc. the bathroom was big too with a lovely bath. The hotel is obviously undergoing renovation so the common areas are under construction. Breakfast is finished though and breakfast delicious with friendly service. Loved it
