The location had stunning views, was not too far a walk into the town. The decor and cleanliness of the property, considering its age were strikingly lovely, the furniture was georgous in the lounge areas. The food was amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Windermere Manor Hotel, hotel in Windermere

Located in the heart of the Lake District and a 10-minute walk from Lake Windermere, this hotel is set in 3 acres of tree-lined gardens and has a charming, wooden-beamed restaurant.

We had a great stay at the hotel, the lady that checked us in was great and checked in and went swimming straight away. Pool was not too cold, all was nice and clean and easy accessible. Breakfast was a lovely selection and all fresh. Room was OK, I did book a family room with a sofa but there was no sofa.Didnt seem floors had been cleaned in a while as there was bits all over the floor especially in the bathroom. Beds were comfortable.

The room was spacious and the bed was great. Views were amazing. Heating was controllable. Bathroom a little dated. Great Spa area. All very clean throughout. Polite and welcoming staff. Food was beautiful. Sadly the weather was not conducive to being able to fully take advantage of the outside areas but it was December, so we will go again in better months

Beautiful location, lots to do and see and a great base to visit the Lakes. Plenty of places to dine out with some fantastic restaurants to choose from. We went for Italian - San Pietro in Windermere - delicious food, but be aware does not do Pizza! Parking is the issue in Bowness and Windermere mainly because there is always lots of visitors. However, less busy in the afternoons at this time of year. A visit to Hayes Garden Centre at Ambleside is recommended with its fantastic Christmas display.

This is quite the tourist spot, so plan accordingly.

This is quite the tourist spot, so plan accordingly. We came in fall which had gorgeous foliage. We hiked to the viewpoints, shopped, and took in the breathtaking views. Other parts of the Lake District are easily accessible by car, and highly recommended too. Many people enjoy taking a boat trip from here to see Beatrix Potter's house. We prefer Ambleside (a 30 minute drive) for restaurants and food, as Windermere caters to tourists. However, we did find a coffee gem at Homeground Coffee + Kitchen! I highly recommend their baked treats!
