A lovely cosy room with everything in good order,
a really comfy bed as well. The bar and restaurant was well kept with a great relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was awesome with it all being cooked fresh to order. Yum Yum😋
A charming English manor house close to the A1 road. WiFi is free in public areas and food is served all day.

Loved the heritage building.
Room 8 was huge, just the steps to the bathroom were a bit tricky for night time needs, but was a nice good sized bathroom

We didn't book breakfast online but there wasn't an issue booking breakfast when we got there and it was cheaper!! Lots of choice and the coffee was excellent. The evening meal was very good value for money, no piddling small portions. Eating there is highly recommended.

The staff were very friendly. The hotel offered evening meals as well as breakfast. The location was quiet, yet handy for visiting Bishop Auckland.
Both the welcome and the room were excellent but why oh why...
Both the welcome and the room were excellent but why oh why is it assuned that everyone likes chocolate, it wasn't even a fresh croissant in the breakfast bag mind you the instant porridge was quite good, but I'm not sure I'd want it everyday if I stayed for a week! The rest of the breakfast bag contents did not come up to anything like acceptable causing my wife and I to seek out a breakfast top up for our 2 night stay. Ok not everyone can get it right all the time, mind you neither could the wall clock as it didn't have a battery in it!! Perahps a stay somewhere other than the Stables would make things a little better.
