Macdonald Kilhey Court Hotel, hotel in Wigan

Just 10 minutes from Wigan centre, Macdonald Kilhey Court Hotel offers delicious breakfasts. With free parking, the hotel is 12 miles from Bolton.

The room was lovely, very warm and cosy. Very clean. The staff were lovely too, especially the polish lady on the desk, she made us really welcomed, she was amazing. She made us feel very welcome with our dog too. Gave him a bowl of water and couple of hugs. She made us a coffee and biscuits as we asked her if there was a coffee shop close by as we had travelled 3.5 hours and were desperate for a coffee. She made no hesitation and said she would make us a coffee and a drink for our son. It was very kind of her. We had a very enjoyable relaxing weekend. Thank you so much. The area was brilliant, loved it. The only down side we had was the bed settee, the wooden slats underneath the mattress, fell out as soon as my son laid on the bed. We tried to get them in. But noticed a few had come out. He slept on the floor for a while on the mattress bit, but being asmatic, the dust was getting to him, so he joined us in the big bed, which he loved. He had a good sleep after that. Thank you again. We had a good time. 😁 ♥️

Lovely little shopping area and beautiful historic buildings. Nice variety of shops in shopping centre. Lots of redevelopment going on so would be interested to go in a couple of years time to see what it's like.

Wigan certainly has an interesting history and the information provided at my accommodation was perfect for exploring the surrounding areas. Green parks and walks right on the doorstep, very refreshing and certainly somewhere I will be back to visit. A lovely shopping centre within easy reach and with friendly locals.

There is significant historical and cultural interest in Wigan, especially industrial architecture and the wonderful local museum and George Orwell library. The people are very friendly, talk to them! The town has suffered enormously from economic transition and the effects are still playing out. There are a few nice eateries and bars in Wigan but you have to seek them out. Go visit, the town needs you and you will learn a lot.

    It's a small sleepy town.

It's a small sleepy town. Although it has everything you need. But not much Indian restaurants and one caution the town get completely dead by 9 PM in summers and by 5 PM in winters u won't get anything after that it's not safe to travel alone at night.. otherwise it all great

Breakfast was good, but bit of a long wait for it after ordering it. The large Double bed was very comfortable, Nice bathroom with great shower. It was very cold outside, but the room's radiator heated the room up fine. Our room was very close to the M6 Motorway itself, but the Double glazing meant we could hear no traffic noise at all when the window was closed. definetely a good room rate for a Saturday night 10 mins from Wigan Town Centre.

Just a really welcoming, friendly, relaxed place. A crowd of proper old-school Wigan customers who are ALWAYS chatty and pleasant. The colleagues are so warm and friendly but still professional. The pub is quirky and gorgeous and always love and clean. Wetherspoons food is brilliant, can’t fault it. Beer is cheap as chips. Top value all round, I love the place.
