New Bath Hotel & Spa, hotel in Whatstandwell

The New Bath Hotel and Spa is an 18th century property set within 5 acres of landscaped gardens.

I love coming here for a short stay, mainly to get in a good dose of swimming in the fabulous and friendly atmosphere of the geo-thermal spa pool! The surrounding area is great for exploring too. Plenty of places to visit nearby including within a five to ten minute walk. The room had a great view of the pool and it was fab to wake up to the rhythmic sound of swimming strokes from the pool below. The balconies are great for sitting out on and drying your swim kit. Breakfast had plentiful choice including healthy options. A teapot is available on request which is appreciated. Staff are friendly and helpful.

I came to see the industrial archaeology of Bull Bridge.

I came to see the industrial archaeology of Bull Bridge. It was famous for the Bull Bridge Aqueduct, but there are also the ruins of the Bull Bridge kilns, 5 lime works, the line of the Crich or Frichley tramroad, and an older one adjacent to the kilns, a corn mill, and a malt house.

We stayed here as a mid point between White Peaks Distillery (where we had a tour and tasting session- highly recommended!) and Yassou Greek Kitchen (just the best dinner!) The local area was very pretty, but also very hilly! A poorly planned walk could cost your calves!

The Willow room was perfect for my needs - comfy bed, desk/dressing table & chair. Sash window a little difficult but managed. Fan provided. Hairdryer provided. The cafe had lovely comfy chairs, tables adequately spaced. Handy location for walkers, shoppers & fun seekers. Car park across the road, off busy A6.

WhatStandwell is a lovely village, we drove to The family Tree however there is a railway station 2 minutes walk away which will take you to Derby or Matlock and Matlock Bath. There is a bus service which will take you to Buxton and beyond, bus stops are also 2 minutes away or less.

    Easy to get to .

Easy to get to . Hotel was easy to find and the food in the restaurant was good. Easy to get round the area with plenty to see and do. Watch out for the many speed cameras. Avoid weekends as parking everywhere was difficult . Enjoyed it so much we are going back.

The room was beautifully decorated and very clean.

The room was beautifully decorated and very clean. The bed was comfy. But unfortunately the room was too hot and the breakfast was not great. Although we paid separately for the dinner, the food also was not great - quite bland. We had burgers for dinner.
