This is my hubby & I’d 3rd time staying as we come to visit the Lake District from USA. Everything is perfect! The food , the staff, the room, the area. We will return in 2026. One of our fave places on Earth!
Just outside of Penrith, the Brantwood Hotel is less than 3 miles from Ullswater. Just one mile from the junction 40 of M6 it offers bedrooms with attached bathroom and TVs.

Quaint and welcoming. Bright conservatory. Quiet dining room. Dinner and breakfast were excellent.
Nestled peacefully among the Eastern Lakeland Fells and located on many of the best-loved Lakeland walks, this charming country retreat is ideal for a peaceful break in Dockray.

Staff were very helpful after I messed up my booking night. George went out of his way to help. Great food and beer. Recommend this to bikers for a stop over.
Located in the north of the Lake District, this inn is set in the charming hamlet of Troutbeck. It offers bed and breakfast accommodations, free Wi-Fi and free on-site parking.

Lovely friendly staff, nice room, comfy bed. Great food.
A traditional family-owned pub in Greystoke, The Boot and Shoe is only a 10-minute drive from the M6 motorway. The Lake District National Park is around 30 minutes’ drive away.
Set in a rural location B & B Meadow View in Tirril and it is 3 miles from Penrith.

I liked that the room was on the ground floor. The bed was very comfortable and the room was warm. The bathroom was a great size with a good hot shower. Breakfast was delightful and the hosts very friendly, chatty and helpful. On site parking was great.

A beautiful hotel with spectacular views.Access to the lake is tricky as no proper path down to it.Perhaps some more benches around the grounds would have been good to look and admire the scenery. Also a car is needed to explore as the road is to dangerous to walk along it.To view the lake in all it's glory a trip on the steamer boats which run the entire length of Ullswater is a must, stop at the pooley bridge and the amazing Aira water falls spectacular days out all within 1o minutes car drive from the hotel

Watermillock is like the name of the area.
Watermillock is like the name of the area. Just odd houses and the A592 which runs through it. I believe that most of the attractions of the Lake District are away from this accommodation. However, Ullswater is visible from the road, and lots of walks and eating places are not far away.

We did a couple of walks along the Ullswater, travelling by steamer and bus as well as by car. It was beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed visiting Pooley Bridge for meals, café and bookshop, as well as meals at Another Place.

Fabulous views form where we stayed. It was very near Aira Force Waterfalls a National Trust woodland walk.
It is a good base if you need to take your dog to visit Veterinary Vision in Penrith. The room was perfect for a family

The receptionist at the tail on arrival was underwhelming say the least.
The room was small and rather shabbily furnished. The hotel advertises itself as a four star hotel but is actually a three star hotel. The restaurant food is way overpriced and very poor value for money. There is a 10% service charge on top of the food which is not discretionary as in every other hotel. Other than location there is little else of merit in this hotel and I would certainly not recommend staying there. If you are unfortunate enough to have booked to stay there I would advise that you have your meals on room service which is better value than the restaurant

Our B&B at Lowthwaite was first class, we were very happy to have booked to stay there. Watermillock is set in beautiful scenery around Ullswater. I would love to go again, but would avoid eating at the inn in Dockray next time.

Cosy, well equipped, great location for walking. Close to buses if your doing the Ullswater way. In fact its on the Ullswater way if you want to do it in one hit. Pooley bridge is close by. As is Penrith for food shopping. We really enjoyed our stay there. The view is wonderful. Would go back.
Excellent location with a lovely view of Ullswater.
Facilities were modern and a pleasure to use.
Owner very kindly left a bottle of wine and biscuits for us.
