Warkworth was a good centre for exploring.

Warkworth was a good centre for exploring. We rented a cottage for 3 nights. Parking on the street, right at the door. There were several pubs and restaurants. Bertrams which we visited was excellent. The Masons Arms was recommended to us by several locals. The river walk was lovely, we were lucky enough to see little egrets, goosanders, herons and a kingfisher. Nearby Amble was a good for takeaways and the pier walk.

We liked being in the centre of the village and near to the river walks. Visited the castle which is part of English Heritage and interesting to visit. We ate in a number of small restaurants in the village and nearby fishing village of Amble. The small stalls and the market there are worth a visit.

Location excellent for visiting other places on the coast though Warkworth itself is brilliant for famies the only downside is there are no crossings for the road. The Mason's Arms was a great place to eat, Riverside and shops very interesting and Amble quayside market on Sunday. Holy Island great place to visit but Warkworth Castle and Abbey on Holy Island too expensive for a family visit.

It is a small but interesting town dominated by its castle which is a must to visit for at least 1/2 day. Pretty and well kept, the village obviously receives many visitors and there is a predominance of holiday lets and second homes which waters down the 'local' atmosphere. It is enjoyable to meander through its honey coloured stone buildings and streets, well worth a visit.

Bertram's is a restaurant with rooms in the picturesque village of Warkworth. The breakfast is possibly the best that I have had anywhere in the UK. Very generous portions and top quality ingredients. The Kipper was excellent, as was the Full English. The fresh orange juice was actually freshly squeezed. The staff were friendly and welcoming. MY advice would be to make sure that you book a table in the restaurant ahead of your visit.

We were allocated a very small double room for the 2 of us and our single friend was given a double also though paying single rates. Her room was very larger than ours so we spoke to reception and they allocated us an exceptionlly beautiful large room with stunnung views of the castle. We ate dinner first night in bar and it was delicious. All staff in the hotel were very friendly.

Great location in Warkworth. Nicely furnished and decorated with good bedding and towels. Nice settees and kitchen was ok, fine for doing the basics. Espresso machine appreciated. All in all very comfortable and heating warmed up the apartment well which was critical given the cold weather.
