The Red Lion Inn Alnmouth features a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Alnmouth. This 5-star hotel offers free WiFi. Bamburgh Castle is 19 miles from the hotel.

The location was good as Alnmouth is a small village and all bars, hotels, places to eat seem to be on the main street so not far between each one to travel. A pretty little main street very near to the beach. Our room was comfortable with a good selection of teas and coffees and toiletries. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast.

Warkworth was a good centre for exploring.

Warkworth was a good centre for exploring. We rented a cottage for 3 nights. Parking on the street, right at the door. There were several pubs and restaurants. Bertrams which we visited was excellent. The Masons Arms was recommended to us by several locals. The river walk was lovely, we were lucky enough to see little egrets, goosanders, herons and a kingfisher. Nearby Amble was a good for takeaways and the pier walk.

We liked being in the centre of the village and near to the river walks. Visited the castle which is part of English Heritage and interesting to visit. We ate in a number of small restaurants in the village and nearby fishing village of Amble. The small stalls and the market there are worth a visit.

Location excellent for visiting other places on the coast though Warkworth itself is brilliant for famies the only downside is there are no crossings for the road. The Mason's Arms was a great place to eat, Riverside and shops very interesting and Amble quayside market on Sunday. Holy Island great place to visit but Warkworth Castle and Abbey on Holy Island too expensive for a family visit.

It is a small but interesting town dominated by its castle which is a must to visit for at least 1/2 day. Pretty and well kept, the village obviously receives many visitors and there is a predominance of holiday lets and second homes which waters down the 'local' atmosphere. It is enjoyable to meander through its honey coloured stone buildings and streets, well worth a visit.

Warkworth village and the Castle are steeped in history and educational. The apartment is very well equipped and well thought out. Attractive town and hotel is in convenient location. Staff pleasant and enthusiastic. Good freshly cooked breakfast as opposed to the horrible congealed self service arrangements found in many places..… No problem getting a parking spot in the hotel courtyard.

The (full English) breakfast was delicious, also the vegetarian variant. Warkworth is a charming, tiny village almost surrounded bij the river Coquet and an impressive castle-ruin.
