Didn't like the hotel as we discovered when we tried to check-in that they had given away our family room, so we had no where to stay that evening. They tried to offer us a double room, with only 1 double bed, which would not have been adequate for 2 adults & 2 kids. Hotel didn't phone me to check on our arrival time before they decided to give away our family room. Very poor service, won't be booking this hotel again!

Like so many towns right now, the centre was once bustling but has lost so many shops and has the sort of barriers to prevent terrorists and ram-raiders in vehicles, so depressing. On the plus side there is a fantastic art gallery, a leather museum, the beautiful "Arboretum" park, a decent Wetherspoons plus another real-ale pub "The Pretty Bricks", plentiful rail and bus transport and easy access to The Black Country Living Museum, Aldridge Transport Museum, Cannock Chase and Birmingham.

It was handy for me to meet up with a friend.

It was handy for me to meet up with a friend. Like so many towns it looks run down and the shopping area lacks any interest. Not many places to eat/restaurants that I could find. Nice Wetherspoons saved the day.

A superb area of The Black Country.

A superb area of The Black Country. Lots of great hotels and apartments to stay in, not too far from Birmingham, to reach by bus or train, to leave your car behind. Lots of great pubs, so no need to lower your standards by using a Weatherspoon's same with food, fantastic ethnic variety to choose from, so no need to lower your standards by using Mcdonald's or KFC.

Our visit was to Aldridge/ Walsall and sorry to say we won't be rushing back. Took daughter to stay at her partners, we booked Barons Court Hotel to have a meal, stay overnight and do something the following day in the area as we had stayed previously and enjoyed ourselves. Hotel review partly reflects how the facilities and area has changed for the worse. Hotel run down, rooms are a shadow of how they appear on the photos. Used the Horse and Jockey pub across road for a meal and drink. Meal okay then found out it was closing down in two weeks to become a Lidl. Looked at next pub to go to, drove down and found out it was a Co op. Nothing else to do so stayed in hotel TWO hours then left for home after dropping daughter off. Certainly no plans to revisit anytime soon.

Front of hotel very nice, clean and inviting. Room was standard, but clean. Lady that checked us in during the day was very nice and friendly. Stayed here a few years ago and the hotel was pretty run down. It has had a big change within its appearance as the entrance area, dinning etc have all been revamped. The room had new carpet laid so a nice fresh feeling to it.

Was an oldie worldie hotel, very historical, made a lovely change from modern hotels. Rooms were warm and spacious and the staff were brilliant and extremally helpful. Made time to make you feel welcome. Breakfast was excellent, would recommend using this hotel to friends as it was central to the shopping area and lots of places to eat around.

The welcome is most welcoming at Fairlawns,I was delighted to be upgraded to a larger room. There is always a friendly positive atmosphere in the different areas of the hotel. I enjoy the fact that you can attend yoga/pilates etc.. as part of the room rate.
