No good for dogs until October. No dogs on the beach in the summer. Great pub, with a great view to go to. Do visit The Spy Glass, great food and atmosphere. You need to be reasonably fit as Ventnor is very hilly.

Lovely beach and esplanade walks.
Lovely beach and esplanade walks. Restaurants were good and varied and we liked the feeling of being on the other side of the island which proved to be much quieter than we thought it would be in August. Still has a slightly untouched touristy feel, so perfect for those looking for a quieter beachy holiday.

Small beach, with lovely restaurants/pub etc.
Small beach, with lovely restaurants/pub etc.
Not dog friendly at this time of year, but that’s understandable, for a small seaside town.
It’s very hilly, so you may need to drive down to the front, if you suffer with mobility issues.

A very attractive little town built into the hillside above a small, pleasant beach. There are several good-quality restaurants and pubs. The high street is obviously still suffering the effects of the pandemic but some interesting, quirky outlets have survived.

Of all the places we visited on the Isle of Wight we found...
Of all the places we visited on the Isle of Wight we found Ventnor had the greatest choice of places to eat and generally had a nice feel to it, unlike one or two others, which appeared rundown and a bit shabby.
The Spyglass Inn is besides the sea, serves a wide choice of reasonably priced food and has several good beers. The food at the newly opened Stripped Brasserie was excellent and is highly recommended. The Volunteer pub is well worth a visit, a bit quirky and good beer.

A wonderful town on the south of the Isle of Wight.
A wonderful town on the south of the Isle of Wight. When the sun is out, it's like being in the South of France, Lovely seafood. The Crab Shed is worth a visit as is the beautiful and tropical Botanical Gardens - the shop is worth a visit run by a wonderful lady. Lots of cafes restaurants and bars.

We loved 'Top Deck' Apartment, everything was exceptional. It was home from home for us, everything you could think of down to the fine details which made the apartment so special. It was spacious and light and we especially loved the views of the sea at Ventnor from the apartment windows. It was a joy to return back to from our daily travels on the Isle of Wight. The hosts, Mel and Daniel were extremely helpful.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Children loved the waffles and pancakes!
The boys loved the view from our balcony and enjoyed spotting the ships in the Channel. Convenient location but you need to be a relatively fit person to tackle the steps and steep hill down to the beach.
No car park at the hotel but this wasn’t a problem as we had no problem parking on the roadside in the next street.
Very nicely decorated quirky apartment located in excellent location, used the bus service, ( Isle of wight has a very good bus service.) bus stop around the corner.
If your not self catering there are plenty of nice places to eat.
Annette is a perfect host, answered all our queries regarding staying in Ventnor and getting around.
- Excellent location opposite Ventnor beach.
- Fully equipped kitchen.
- Amazing view of the sea from the lounge area.
- Warm and well heated house.
- Conveniently located for coastal walks though some paths were closed due to landslides.
Beautiful apartment, very modern and spacious and yet within a historic, attractive building.
Good location in Ventnor, only 10 minutes walk from a nice beach.
