Ulverston is a small town , with lots of shops and pubs, and resturant .
We found most of the pubs to be full of young men , maybe there is a university near by ? We went out new year for a meal , to Bettula itilian resturant , very nice . But there was no entertainment any where in the pubs . All the pubs were like I said were full of young men . Not many couples or anyone over 20 . So I would not go again to this area for New Year . I dont know what it would be like at other times . But it is a nice area around Ulverston lots of nice places to visit and walk

Traditional shops, characterful setting - an unexpected gem.
Traditional shops, characterful setting - an unexpected gem. Check out Gillams for lunch. And/or The Base restaurant for a special treat. Walk to the summit of the Sir John Barrow monument for a great view. Use the town as a base for exploring the local area. Head out to the Farmers Baycliff for a pub with great food. The Dock Museum in Barrow is not far, and worth a visit. Furness Abbey too. And there are beaches for winter walks on every hand.

Ulverston was a lovely little town.
Ulverston was a lovely little town. It had everything you needed, including nice pubs and restaurants and the locals could not be more friendly. It was the perfect landing spot to go and explore some of the Lake District before heading back down South.

Very friendly people who greeted me as I walked around and/or asked for help. We were there on the night of lanterns and watched it from the living room. A strong showing of community participation. I loved it.

This guest house is outstanding, from high standard and exquisite decor to the amazing breakfast. The owner couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Everywhere was exceptionally clean. You couldn't get a better location right in the centre of Ulverston but tucked down a side road so really quiet and a car park right outsite. However there is a cheaper car park just up the hill (road) if you dont mind a short walk
Ulverston is a lovely little town with plenty of pubs and restaurants. It's a good base to visit the rest of the lakes. The property is 2 mins walk from the town centre. Parking was available and free. The cottage was clean, comfortable, well equipped and very quiet at night. If you're planning to eat out we can highly recommend the Rose and Crown, lovely food at a reasonable price.
Beautiful, well equipped cottage in quiet location. Short walk to town centre and next to a woodland trail. A home from home, with lovely features including a rear garden/patio.
Sarah was friendly and the room was comfortable. The location is a nice combination of being rural but not remote (about 30 mins walk from Ulverston town centre).
