The room was in an annexe off the main building and we didn't get any noise from the bar. Well laid out and a comfortable night's sleep. Lovely shower and big fluffy towels!

Greenaway is beautiful, perfect for a couple. The location is gorgeous. There was plenty of food left for breakfast as well as tea and coffee's, and there was a wonderful folder filled with info about the house and local area Inc food. Shell was absolutely delightful and had thought of everything, inc a cheeky bottle of wine, thank you! 😉

Tumbleweed Cottage, hotel in Tuxford

Boasting a garden and views of garden, Tumbleweed Cottage is a bed and breakfast set in a historic building in Newark upon Trent, 15 km from Clumber Park.

Sef welcomed us and showed us to our rooms, which were very well equipped, clean and comfortable with beautiful ensuite shower/ toilet. The optional evening meal was prepared by Shaan and was delicious. Both hosts were warm and welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed. Breakfast was great with lots of choice. We stopped off at Newark on our way north and didn't realise how much there is to see and do in the area so will certainly return to Tumbleweed Cottage. We were waved off by Sef and Shaan and it felt almost like we had been staying with friends. My mother is partially sighted with mobility issues and found the stair lighting and room layout very manageable.

There was much more to Tuxford than meets the eye.

There was much more to Tuxford than meets the eye. A perfect stopping off point just by the A1, Tuxford boasts 2 museums, 2 excellent cafes (not open in the evening) a parish lock-up and a very good fish and chip shop. Lincoln and Newark are an easy drive away and the Fountain serves well-cooked food from Thursday to Sunday. Opening times can be a bit variable, the town caters for a local clientele and is definitely not a 24 hour society!

The accommodation was excellent couldn't fault it apart from I forgot to pack my slippers or some flip flops for walking across the decking. It had 2 decent sized gardens for the dog to wander in not fully fenced off but he never wanders too far anyway so no problem for us. It was very private and nice distance away from the other cabin so everyone had their privacy. The owners were lovely and helpful. We did walk into a small part of tuxford which had a pub and a few takeaways which is you want to bring back to the cabin go in car as it is about a 15-20 minute walk. There is also a pub next to the site which also offers takeaway and dine in but it only does food certain days of the week. There was a few buses but if you want to rely on them I'd research them first as I don't know how often the actually ran by the site. There is quite a few places to see if your planning a long trip but you would need a car. All in all its a lovely place just for a quick relaxing getaway. Would definitely recommend for a couple or single person just looking for a nice place to go, wether you want to just full on chill out or if you do want a little adventure.

    Tuxford is a dying village!

Tuxford is a dying village! Overtaken by the amount of heavy goods vehicles passing though it. Roadworks everywhere (probably because of the lorries knackering the road surface). A mainline railway runs very close to it & high speed trains regularly thunder through. I'm sure it was a beautiful place once, but not anymore. The Fountain Hotel isn't as nice as it's website. Actually, I'd rather have stayed on the website. The whole village needs investment (lots of it) & the A1 to disappear!!
