We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel! The location is fantastic, offering easy access to local attractions and stunning views. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-appointed, providing a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring.
The breakfast served was delightful, with a wide variety of options to suit different tastes. The staff were friendly and accommodating, ensuring our needs were met throughout our stay.
The only minor downside was the lack of a children's play area or indoor kids' club. It would be wonderful if the hotel could consider adding these amenities in the future for families with young children.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

We were there for a wedding at the local church but highly satisfied with our choice. The owners are a fantastic couple who made us feel very welcome and told us lots of the local history.
If makes such a difference when you are made to feel welcome the minute you step through the door.

We loved the views.
We loved the views. We ate both there and at another secluded pub just down the road. Troutbeck is easy enough to get around but you will need a car to get into Ambleside. If we were in the area again we would stay in The Mortal Man.

Very clean bathrooms and toilets.
Very clean bathrooms and toilets. Amazing staff, so friendly and helpful. Amazing breakfast and dinner - loved their veggie lasagna. Wifi connection a bit worse in places but with such beautiful countryside all around it didn’t bother me.

This hotel is extremely outdated and in need of a complete refurbishment, it is dirty and smells of damp.
The staff were pleasant but all very young and there didn't seem to be anyone in charge. The food in the restaurant was over priced and poor quality. £28 for a rib eye steak with chips but the steak was chewy and gristly and the chips were undercooked and hard! The price didn't even include a sauce!
It was clear that they knew the room was smelling of damp as they had cheap Reed diffusers and air freshners around to try and cover the smell which made it worse!
The only thing good about this place is the stunning view from the bedroom window but even that doesn't warrant the £225 the one night stay cost me! All I can say is avoid at all cost until they've gutted the place and started from scratch!

Troutbeck isn’t in Windermere so the listing is confusing and cost us a bigger taxi fare than expected. However, the scenery is absolutely stunning and there are beautiful walks around the hostel and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful location.
Beautiful location. The scenery is something else & so close to Windermere, there is plenty to see and do. Great pubs & restuarants & if you love relaxing, walking, hiking or cycling, you have it all around you. Stunning, a must visit.
Great location and Jackie has thought of everything to make your stay very personal...cold milk in the fridge for tea and coffee in your room. A fresh cake or cookie baked daily...breakfasts were amazing and put our next hotel to shame! The bed was very comfortable with beautiful soft sheets.
The house itself is in a very stunning village with walks from the doorstep and the view from all the rooms is spectacular. This is a great little find, we would gladly go back.
The location was excellent, the views across Windermere are awesome, and the Troutbeck valley is beautiful. Townend farm is a 10 min walk up the road and well worth a visit.
The food was good and great value with free kids' meals and a well stocked bar. There is also a well equipped self-catering kitchen.
We booked a 6 bed room with shared toilet and shower facilities. However, on arrival, we were given a larger room with ensuite, which was a nice addition.
Everything we had was excellent. For Dinner the starters there were not enough choices for me. Okay for my husband.
The mains were perfect as were the desserts.
The location of the hotel was perfect, as was the hotel itself.
Beautiful room we stayed in Esk Pike, great customer service from start to finjsh. The Sunday roast was superb and the walks near the hotel are fantastic. Breakfast was fabulous too.
