Well! I don't even know where to start! There were six of us, and we are between 40 and 60 years old, so we have seen quite a few houses where we have stayed during our lives. But like this! never before!!! There are no words for it! Modern, wonderful, beautiful, clean, we came from Hungary and traveled from Canada, to the Dominican Republic, from Iran, to Burma, almost all the countries of the world. But we have never been to such a beautiful house! We didn't even want to leave the house! We had a pub next to us, a convenience store in front of us, we had all the comforts. In the kitchen, there was nothing missing, the bathrooms were so clean and modern that we didn't even want to go in, lest we spoil something, the beds, the quilts, the pillows... you didn't even want to get out of bed... Well, I'll finish here. because I only know Latin, just keep going! Thank you Smithy house team! Staying with you is an unforgettable experience!

What a fabulous place; even though we were staying in the bunk house, we were treated like full guests. Andi gave us a very warm welcome, even though we arrived dripping wet from a long day cycling in the rain. The drying wall was put to instant use and a clothes wash and dry offered (and accepted). Food was excellent both in the evening and for breakfast, and the barman was very good at persuading us to try their extensive collection of Malts. A beautiful part of the country too. Highly recommended!

Tongue is set in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Scotland. There are lovely views of Ben Loyal and of the sandbars of the Kyle of Tongue. There's a great 40 minute walk up to Castle Varrich which has fabulous views.

Having driven by car west coast section of Route 500 in a day, was beautiful but tiring , to stay over in Tongue(hotel) is a perfect base to complete north coast via Thurso and John o Groats and East coast sections. Then on home journey, followed middle section road A836 to Lairg and beyond.

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Tongue
The location really is spectacular, right on the shore line. It was amazing to see the tide going in and out and the beautiful scenery surrounding the Kyle of Tongue. The cottage itself is very comfortable, clean and very well equipped. There couldn't be a better place to stay to explore this part of Scotland. We loved staying there and would have enjoyed a longer time than we had available.
The Tongue Hotel was a convenient stay on our NC500 holiday. In that area, accommodation is limited so it was nice to find a welcoming comfortable place to rest our heads.
Our evening meal at the hotel was of a very high quality and really most enjoyable. Breakfast was extremely good too.
Yes...it was a very pleasant overnight stay.
The house is great - huge, lots of space, two bathrooms and three bedrooms. And great value for all that property - also located near two hotels with bars and restaurants so that is useful given it is self catering. It’s also just off the NC500 so convenient for that too.
