Absolutely first class and faultless service from the staff, very welcoming and friendly. Top quality breakfast, comfy bed and stylish and smart looking room. The evening food looked amazing but we did not eat there due to visiting family.

The location was perfect for walking and the village itself was perfect . The stay was very good for getting away from it all, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We walked to the local station were we had a trip on a steam train!

I loved every inch of the property. The hotel is set in lovely grounds near a river bank. It has such charm with it's period features. As I am someone who loves older buildings with history this was perfect for me.
It is located in a lovely quiet village, not a lot to do but a shop within walking distance and plenty of restaurants/pubs.
Ideal for a quiet get away. For me it was ideal as my husband was on a training course near by so we needed somewhere with free parking and free wifi.
Really enjoyed my stay as I spent most of the two days in the hotel doing my online business work. It wasn't too busy so felt as though I had the place to myself. We were put into the bridal suite which overlooked the beautiful grounds, zero traffic noise!
Looking back at previous reviews many say how it is falling apart and needs updating, which I agree with the updating part, just little attention to detail jobs that need doing but, it is an old building with charm, to upgrade it too modern would ruin it!
One thing that does need upgrading is the mattress, we rolled into the middle a lot and the bed made a noise each time we moved but, we found it funny and part of the charm.
Breakfast was beautiful, just enough and service with a smile.
I think I have fallen in love with the property, if I had a lottery win I would love to invest in the property and restore the beautiful staircase, windows and grounds, it felt so homely and safe.
Very pleasant staff doing the best they can with what they have to work with.
Would love to come back again!

It was set on a beautiful street, a little out of town and it was so peaceful!

Booked as a deluxe double room found it to be no more than a standard room as found in any other budget hotel. Stayed in more superior rooms for less.
Certainly seen better days shown by poorly repaired wall damage, storage area facia broken away.
Pedal bin lid disgustingly dirty top storage shelf unclean.
Entertainment media (TV) signal continually breaking up.
Bedding questionable badly creased which may suggest only made up and not changed
Despite being booked in advance room was not adequately prepared i.e very cold evening no heating switched on in room so unable to settle in until room warmed up.
Seriously considering vacating for alternative accommodation on local area despite non refund policy so would loose rate already paid
Rooms are excellent size bearing in mind I paid less than £40 for one night.
The staff are always extremely lovely to deal with and give this place a very friendly Bed and Breakfast feel.
The best in its class on bookings.com for sure. Better comfort and value than an IBIS which is a smaller room for more money!. Highly recommend this hotel.
Spacious room, way better than the reviews I’ve seen. Reception lady was friendly and informative. The room was a good standard of clean. Hotel itself, I couldn’t fault but due to the below I would not stay again
Location of the Hotel and preservation its periodic nature. overall better than our expectations in the way of hospitality, cleanliness and quality of the basic breakfast we had.
