We loved our time at the hotel. It is lovely staying somewhere with a great sense of the past. Our room was clean and comfortable, breakfast and dinner were great, and the staff were very helpful at the beginning, during and end of our stay. The hotel was ideally situated for a stopover on our way home from touring Scotland, with the added bonus of being able to see the beautiful red squirrels!

My partner and I recently stayed at a hotel, having reserved a standard room through booking.com. The confirmation email mentioned that we would be accommodated in the main building or the annexe. Had we known that we would be placed in a separate building at the back, we would not have booked in the first place. I disagree that the conditions in both the main building and the annexe are the same. Firstly, there is no heated connection to the main building. Secondly, the room was small and basic. The pictures are not worth considering, as they differ from reality.
The breakfast did not include espresso. If you desire espresso, there is an additional charge of £4.50 at the bar. While I appreciated that the set menu breakfast was served warm and freshly prepared, we both would have preferred the option to select from a buffet, which is a common practice at many 4-star hotels we have visited.
The highlight of the hotel was the spa centre and the delightful staff. The various amenities were modern and clean, and the staff was very courteous and friendly. We enjoyed it. However, after spending a few beautiful hours in the spa, we had to cross the entire hotel with wet hair, run through the rain, and climb the stairs to reach our room in the annexe. It left us feeling like poor relatives hidden away in the backyard, distanced from everyone else.
The location was excellent, but the noise from the nearby main road was unpleasant. The main building boasts a lovely view, yet it was not visible from our room. In conclusion, this hotel's offerings fall below the average for 4-star hotels. We wouldn't recommend it and won't visit it again.

A perfect spot to enjoy the Lakes whilst only minutes from the M6. Quiet location and I had views into the countryside.
Lovely fresh breakfast and perfect leaf tea.
The hosts couldn’t have been better and went out of their way to help me.

I travel up and down the M6 to/from Hereford to Oban fairly regularly. It’s a long an arduous journey particularly in the winter. Westmorland is a godsend of a hotel almost exactly half way and is an oasis of comfort and warmth literally at the side of the motorway. I love the convenience, the comfort, the friendliness and the fact you feel you are on the moors and a million miles from a motorway. You could not wish for a better night stop to recharge your batteries. Be sure to ask about the secret road between north and south services especially for hotel customers- so you can easily access the hotel when travelling south (because hotel is on M6 North)

Tebay services…. what a fabulous cocooning experience!
Tebay services…. what a fabulous cocooning experience! I came off the M6 on a wild wet dark evening and stepped into simple luxury and contemporary cosiness - I left the next morning early, completely restored.
I was journeying from the borders of scotland to the south coast and realised I’d run out of energy for the drive- an unplanned stop- but having experienced sitting by the open fire with my book after a delicious simple supper, slept in a divine comfortable bed, a nice hot bath -a delicious breakfast - i’ll make the time to stop here EVERY time i pass from now - special thanks for the gluten free and vegan options tebay!

There was a well stocked farm shop within walking distance, a great pub which was reasonably priced with a good menu. The food was delicious, it had an outdoor beer garden and lit up seating area, a play park for the kids, it played great music and had a good atmosphere, everyone was so friendly.
Tebay has many local walks, it is in the perfect location, in between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales.

Central location, ideal for exploring the area.
Central location, ideal for exploring the area. Hotel very good. Service top class. Plenty of breakfast options. Can eat at service station at any time. Good variety to choose from. Recommend the farm shop. Food any local crafts available.
A big shout out to every member of staff , from the lovely friendly lady who was busy sorting out the rooms to the young lad who recommended the mint ice cream at supper time. Everyone was friendly, helpful and smily, it created a lovely atmosphere around the hotel. We booked again to stay on our way back because it was such a lovely place, and we will be recommending this gem of a place to everyone who is travelling up to Scotland.
Cottage was comfortable and clean with everything you could need including lots of modern equipment. The kitchen area was really well appointed. We would consider returning with our son's family of 3. We had a nice meal in the pub in Tebay which was a short walk up the hill from the cottage. The bed was comfy and there was a fan in the bedroom which we used when the temperature got too uncomfortable.
It was perfect for what we wanted to do. It was just off M6 with all access to Windermere, Scotland and Keswick. Not many grocery stores or eateries to choose from in Tebay, so make sure you pick something up. Quaint little village. The host provided a little basket of breakfast items to start us off- very kind
Great location, approx 5-10minutes from Tebay Services and the M6. Remote location with plenty of privacy. Loved the open plan living room and kitchen facilties. The design of the barn, the games room and sauna/steam room all very good features. The design / decor were impressive and well thought out.
