Taychreggan, Signature Collection by Eight Continents, hotel in Taynuilt

In a tranquil setting on the banks Loch Awe, Taychreggan, Signature Collection by Eight Continents offers elegant accommodations and high-quality dining.

The road in is not for the faint of heart - it is 10 miles of single track for the most part, up and down, twists and turns. But it is totally worth it. Taychreggan is gorgeous, in the most gorgeous location ever. It is super pet friendly. It is location directly on the loch an surrounded by hills and mountains. I wanted to stay there forever. The food, in their AA rosette-awarded restaurant, is superb. They have a separate bar with fireplace and several lounges, all with stunning views. The location is quiet and serene. The staff is great, and kudos to Ivan, who assisted us with our auto's flat tire and with the rental car staff; he told them off, saying it was totally their fault as the tires were bald and should never have been rented like that!

No.26 By The Sea, hotel in Taynuilt

Located in Oban, a 7-minute walk from Corran Halls, No.26 By The Sea provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

Breakfast was amazing especially when Riley was on, his creamed scrambled eggs were just lush no other word could describe them. Our host for the stay Rachel was attentive, friendly, and extremely great at service. We had an evening meal at Porchini at sister hotel No17 and the food was also out of this world. Our view in the room and the quality of the bed was exceptional. We will be back this is our second visit with our previous stay at number 17. 26 has a different feel, more relaxed and homely.

Taynuilt and the nearby Bonawe Furnace's are steeped in history particularly with the Royal Navy. The first monument to Admiral Lord Nelson in the UK was erected by the workers of Bonawe Furnaces in 1805 after he was killed at Trafalgar. Great location to tour Argylle.

A great place to stay to explore the west of Scotland and its Islands. Plenty of local country walks. Good train service between Oban-Taynuilt-Glasgow. (Taynuilt Station about 1km(?) from house). Otherwise, car would probably be needed for more extensive exploration. EV charger for those who need it (reasonable payment).

    The place was a disaster.

The place was a disaster. The approach was uneven, No railings at high steps at front door, shared bathroom on a half-landing with high step in. Bathroom lock was a mortice lock. Heater only worked for 30 minutes. Only one bedside cabinet though 2 beds on opposite sides of the room. Only one bedside lamp. No bin for any rubbish. Only 2 plastic hangers in the wardrobe. Need I go on? It was a totally horrible experience. We were asked to pay out the full price before we were shown our room which was up a double flight of stairs. I am quite disabled and found it utterly unhelpful. The owner offered to pay us back when we remonstrated but there was by this time no accommodation elsewhere and he knew we were on a cleft stick. The outside view is nothing like your picture of the frontage. It actually looks like an abandoned house! We left as soon as we possibly could after a most uncomfortable night, and of course with no breakfast!

A beautiful location with such friendly people. If you want to step back in time to a place where the locals are delightful and a place rich with culture then it is well worth a visit. You have to pay a visit to the local shop which has the most delightful owner dating back 5 decades.

Taynuilt is a small friendly village with great transport links to Oban and the isles by train, bus, bike or car. It is in a beautiful spot at the foot of Ben Cruachan and sits on Loch Etive offering sporting opportunities and beautiful views. Well worth a visit on its own or as a base for exploring Argyll further.

We stayed in the 1 bedroom chalet which had only been recently built. It was very cozy and modern inside with all the necessities. Constanze was very welcoming and even had some delicious blueberry muffins freshly baked for us on arrival. The nearby village (less than 5min drive) of Taynuilt has a couple of shops that sell daily necessities. The town of Oban was about 20 minutes away and had a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs. I would definitely return again in the future.

A great base for exploring Glencoe,Oban and Loch Lomond. A self contained studio apartment that is well appointed, clean and comfortable. The owners very much respect your privacy but are available for any information. The village of Taynuilt has an excellent award winning butcher, a grocer and post office just a 10 minute walk away. There is also a train station for travelling to Oban or Glasgow.

It's important when asking engineers to work away were able to arrange clean worm and friendly accommodation. The staff were great and made sure my engineers were looked after.
