The White Lion Hotel, hotel in Tal-y-llyn

Around 30 minutes’ drive from Aberystwyth, The White Lion Hotel is a traditional Welsh inn in the town of Machynlleth.

The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was up to date in terms of the facilities. Interesting view from the window across the town to the surrounding hills, which were covered in snow when I visited. Breakfast was fine, and the dinner I had on my final night (lamb shank) was great.

I have nothing negative to say about my stay in the hotel or this area. The hotel was clean, comfortable, welcoming and tranquil. Being in the area for a wedding, with our dining plan already arranged, we did not dine in the restaurant. However, as breakfast was so good, we wish we could have done. Majestic drive through magnificent scenery from Dolgellau to the hotel. Pretty drive from hotel to Tywyn.

Lovely situation, clean and comfortable rooms, good breakfast. The evening meal was reasonably priced and good quality. The lack of a television and wi-fi in the room is unusual in any hotel, these days. However, for me, I'm not bothered about a television in the room and wi-fi was available in the main communal area.

The view and country side were outstanding, it is situated in a valley with steep hills surronding it and a lake right in front of the hotel. There is off street parking and water craft to rent if you feel adventurist. The hotel is clean with options to sit outside and take in the views. The rooms are clean with all amenities. The only downside is the street outside which you have to be careful when crossing because of cars speeding.

Beautiful location, arrived very early and only waited very short time for room to be available. All staff friendly, polite, professional, helpful, especially Ryan, nothing was too much trouble. Food superb, extensive wine list. A very comfortable hotel. Free WiFi. Highly recommend Tyn y Cornel Hotel and would definitely stay there again. Weather was also very kind to us. I also had an evening meal at the hotel which was very good. I gather it has a non Residents licence so I might consider it if I want to eat out in that area in the future.
