Location for a family visit in Stroud. Clearly a lot of investment gone into renovating the building, even if much has ignored heritage and gone full tilt at contemporary, a LOT of scaffolding boards which I guess ticks sustainable box. Great breakfast, make up your own eggs benedict? Lovely.

Th lavender fields are amazing... Also the market held downtown is gorgeous, we spent a few good hours there . The little town was busy as we went during summer time, and it was heaving with tourists. There are many little fresh food cafes, and the vegetarian/vegan choices are good.

The town of Stroud was a disappointment, lots of closed down shops and very difficult to park, not somewhere I would return to, however during the trip we visited Bourton on the Water and Chipping Camden which were beautiful and more than made up for Stroud, both were just oozing Cotswold charm. We also had a Tour of the Woodchester Vineyard and Winery which was fantastic.

The people were so friendly and helpful.Everyone I talked with were open and proud to call Stroud home. Fantastic fish and chips at Simpsons.I loved walking along the canals which were full of schools of fish.Everynight enjoyed sitting outside on one of several patios at The Clotheir Arms sipping wine and listening to the happy banter of conversations from the locals.

Visitors should be aware that there are a lot of quite narrow and steep streets there so if they find walking difficult, it may not be for them. Apart from that it is a lovely town with lots of character and an excellent farmers market. The countryside around is really beautiful and we also went for a lovely canal side walk. Some interesting shops and a very eco-friendly and shop local vibe. A good sense of community. Good for cycling if you don't mind steep hills.

Stroud is quite a big town in Gloucestershire and, as such, it has all of the shops and amenities one would expect. Plus, with a taxi rank, train station and frequent bus services to/from Cheltenham and Gloucester, among other places, the town is well connected. I would recommend it as a base from which to explore Gloucestershire.

Beautiful flat, well-equipped. The owner gave plenty of information both about the property and the local area. The welcome food pack was great. Fantastic views over surrounding country. Nice location, mainly quiet and not too far from station and town centre, though better to take a car or taxi if you have luggage. I didn't bring a car but good parking if you do. Would definitely stay here again.
