Perfect for our short trip. Comfortable, clean and welcoming . Great staff, amazing breakfast especially the salmon rosti 😋 Much higher quality than I would expect and thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend and fully intend to return.
Host was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Room and whole surroundings were very tranquil.

Wonderful hosts. Breakfast was ordered the night before & had a large selection of food. Hosts were helpful to try to suggest other ideas for the day when our trip was cancelled due to weather. And when we had to change our plans and fly back the night before rather than the morning, hosts drove us to the airport, which was much appreciated. They were welcoming, helpful hosts. We would definitely stay again.

The people of Stornoway are very friendly, and our stay was enjoyable. The restaurants are good value for money, if somewhat limited in variety. However, it is not a tourist town. Apart from going to the pub or trying to get to see a show at the local, there is very little else to do.

Charming town and a safe Island.
Charming town and a safe Island. Very little to be concerned about. Two large supermarkets for a variety of groceries. Local bakery, local butchers and a must for tasting the Black Pudding. It's the best.
Lews Castle an iconic feature of the town with in-built museum. Several Harris Tweed shops, a couple of jewellery shops. Boots the chemist, Superdrug, Peacocks and The Original Factory Shop based in the Co-Op supermarket. Airport with several flights per day to the mainland plus ferry service twice a day to the mainland.

What a wonderfully scenic and historic island.
What a wonderfully scenic and historic island. Amazingly friendly people who were genuinely interested in talking to you and promoting their island. A new experience around every corner from art to century old history. Make sure you go to the bridge to nowhere and walk up the track for an amazing view. Visit the distillery in Tarbert and travel on to Rodel for some great sandy beaches.

We used the local bus service for getting around, frequency was good with a late evening service which allowed us to eat out in Stornoway in the evenings. The castle, its grounds and the museum were well worth a visit and we found some very nice shops selling local products. A fair range of eating venues, all of which we tried being very good. We had booked 3 trips with Hebridean Isle Tours which enabled us to see all around the isles of Harris and Lewis, often going off the beaten track, scenery was stunning and our guide was extremely knowledgable, informative and friendly whilst being professional. An excellent way to get around with no problems. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. Loved our stay and hope to be back again.

Town was disappointing. Not scenic.
Town was disappointing. Not scenic. Little in the way of quality restaurants. Sunday sabbath brings the town to a close.
However as a base for exploring Lewis which is very scenic and interesting it is excellent.

Stornoway is a bit run down and not very pretty.
Stornoway is a bit run down and not very pretty.
But it has all the shops and restaurants and the ferry, so makes it a good place to stay for convenience.
But there are much prettier places on Lewis…
We ate at HS-1 restaurant twice and would highly recommend.

Outstanding 3-bedroom holiday let on Isle of Lewis. Very clean, very comfortable, well stocked with every convenience catered for. Kids loved having a bedroom each, great views of the Minch, northern lights, meteor showers etc.
Chris Anne met us for a guided tour of the house, and to hand over the keys. She's thought of everything.
Easy walk downhill to the local beach, or 1 mile drive to the 2 mile beach. 20 min from Stornoway and tescos (just make sure you don't get there the same time as the ferry!!).
Fabulous hosts, breakfast and room. Very quiet and comfortable. Nice walk into the centre of Stornoway, some of which can be done in the grounds just below the castle. I would definitely stay here again.
Ideally situated, central location. Staff were very friendly, room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Food in restaurant is delicious. Highly recommend this hotel.
