Great location and the public areas were beautiful. The rooms could use some updating and staff did not offer to assist with luggage up steps.

Full of character, very old building, creaky floors, but decorated very tastefully. A very ‘cosy’ place to stay with log burners lit, small bar and lounge area, super breakfast, and very friendly staff
Located in Barford Saint Michael, 13 miles from Blenheim Palace, The George Inn has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Great location, heart of town, a few blocks from side entrance to Blenheim Palace gardens -- go up the main street until it dead-ends and you will enter the totally beautiful gardens! We enjoyed our first experience of a "room over pub", just like in the olden days. Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff was kind and helpful and energetic. Bed was comfy. After hours exit was interesting but manageable (separate stairway, separate key -- but it worked fine).

Huge room & bathroom, friendly staff, great breakfast
The Duke of Marlborough is a quaint building just outside Woodstock and Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. It offers free parking and hearty, locally-sourced food.

The breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed family time sitting and visiting a long time each morning over breakfast because the setting, food, and service were all so nice. The bus stop right outside the hotel
Was an added bonus for us which we were not expecting. My parents were able to take the bus into Oxford to meet my daughter and me for dinner, allowing us to go in several hours ahead of them to enjoy the city while they rested.

Arrived slightly early (20 mins) but room still not ready, waited a further half hour and were told we would have upgrade to larger room however reception experience not great. Room was clean and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. Evening meal poor, menu incorrectly typed leading to confusion and food overcooked and tasteless. Breakfast buffet very tired looking, bacon inedible, mushrooms tough and fried egg solid as opposed to runny. Overall impression hotel being run on a shoestring with young inexperienced staff and no evident management guidance.

We used this location as it is close to a railway station into Oxford. Parking at the station appeared to be free as we could not find a pay machine.
We also used the Oxford park and ride - it was excellent and very reasonably priced.
I also played golf at Kirtlington (about 10 miles away). Great course and a very friendly club.

book evening meal before your stay.
book evening meal before your stay. We were not able to because of staff shortages so therefore had to travel for evening meal. We would have had it at the hotel if possible as the standard of food for breakfast was great!

The hotel grounds, most facilities, and location were all good - the reason for selecting along with the price. Reservations made via Booking.com, with payment on arrival - for room and breakfast. However, it soon went wrong because breakfast seating (party of 6) was a problem - we were given excuses about too many guests and too few staff - even though they took our money as soon as we arrived. The first two days were embarrassing mainly because of staff attitude (not everyone, thankfully!).

The hotel is not in the village, but on a crossroads about half a mile away. The village did not seem to have much to recommend it. The pub was shut when we walked over, but that is not the point, the hotel is in a central area with lots of places to visit around.
Lovely hotel with pleasant staff...and looked as if there was a number of them on duty. Bedroom well equipped with plenty of room. Double bed very uncomfortable...very hard! Good size bathroom but could do with modernising..bedroom looked freshly painted and modern but bathroom could do with a bit of tlc. Hole in ceiling where the fan is...this could easily be repaired and made to look less tatty. Food in restaurant very nice but a bit expensive for what you get. Very good breakfast. Ample parking.
The room was extremely clean, freshly decorated and comfortable. Access to fresh air and great shower. Lovely pillows and an appropriate summer weight duvet. The staff were all very professional and helpful. The buffet breakfast was extensive with plenty of choice. I also noticed that the hotel manager took time to look after his team and check in with them which tells you a lot about why the Holt is a great hotel to stay in.
I booked a lower cost room and it was great, plenty of room, good facilities, very quiet and perfect for a good night's sleep. Plus, a lower cost room doesn't mean that the hotel-wide facilities are any less, still a great breakfast in a nice environment (although a bit of background music to break the silence at breakfast might be nice - personal choice only though)
Lovely property, absolutely nothing within walking distance other than a petrol station with a shop. I went alone with a small dog and we had a lovely time, the staff were lovely and very welcoming. Grassy area at the back of the hotel that the dog was able to use.
