Good welcome. Room ok but WiFi unavailable. Also switches for side lamps not easily operated - we couldn't find them! Food good and interesting. Decided £15 a head was too much for breakfast so went elsewhere.

The Abbey is certainly worth seeing. The history is great and the fact that it's still being used is tremendous
The town is easy to get around parking not too difficult and has a good selection of shops 👌

Other than the magnificent abbey there are few obvious sites in Selby and it seemed to have few attractive places to eat. It is a pleasant town to walk around and there are good views from the bridge over the River Ouse. We particularly admired Wetherels - an old-fashioned department store founded in 1898 with a wealth of well-chosen merchandise. Long may it survive!

Selby is a nice town with a mix of amenities, there are historical places to visit and they have a gym, bowling and a canal which is very nice to walk beside. It is also within driving distance of York, Leeds and the Yorkshire Dales, I would recommend a trip there if you are in North Yorkshire

Had great tapas at Basco’s, and the next morning a wonderful breakfast at the Barco Lounge so even though the Bay Horse didn’t offer breakfast there is plenty of choice of excellent eateries within walking distance. Dog friendly too at the Barco Lounge, not sure about Bascos. Train station is only a 5 minute walk from the Bay Horse plus cheap car parking outside the pub. Selby is a lovely, lively little town.

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Selby
The location is fantastic right in the centre of Selby 2 minutes away from the Abby and main shops plenty of places to eat especially good as this hotel/pub doesn't do food the room was modern and well presented not bed was comfy not massive but big enough as it was really only for sleeping in large tv with a fair amount of channels wifi was good so I'm presuming you could use a fire stick or screen casting
The breakfast great. The room was clean enough but the hotel too old. Did not have refrigerator (not suggested to stay many days). The staff great and also the location although there are not many stores near.
