By far the best hotel I have stayed at, it was beyond my expectations.
The building itself is elegant whilst keeping the original features and charm.
The rooms were like apartments huge, the front of house staff and chef went above and beyond even gave our pooch a sausage for breakfast and lots of fuss.
The food on the evening and breakfast was plenty, delicious and lots of choice.
Loved this place and will definitely be back again.

Our stay was perfect! Excellent location, only a short walk from train station. It was a great location to climb Scafell Pike and visit Wastewater lake. Room was spacious and spotless. The owners were lovely and very helpful with logistics. They recommended a taxi (Gosforth Taxi) for our hikes since we didn't have a car. When our train was canceled by a rail strike, they offered to drive us to the nearest staton in Whitehaven if we couldn't find a taxi. (We did find a taxi but really appreciate their kindness!) Our breakfasts had very large portions and were delicious. Full breakfast cooked to order along with cereals, granola and yogurt, juices, etc. We had dinner one night at the lodge and the food was also lovely - large portions of homemade pasta! We were sad to leave!
Offering a free WiFi, Bailey Ground Lodge also offers free on-site parking. Set in the small village of Seascale, the hotel is a short 4-minute walk from the beach and Seascale Train Station.

Great location and dog friendly just a stones throw away from beach.
House keeping were friendly and kept everything stocked up.
Love the fact it is unmanned so you can come and go as you please.

A nice friendly little town with good views over to the Isle of Man or inland to the Cumbrian fells. Good railway links, although I didn't use them this time. Interesting proximity to the Atomic. Nice church and friendly community.

Seascale is a stunning seaside location, has a beautiful tranquil beach. Has the best place to get ice cream from at Mawson's honestly yummy.
People there are friendly and welcoming, it's got outstanding countryside you have eskdale, wastwater, ennendale, ravenglass on your door step.
Since it's out of the national park they are hardly any tourists so a lot quieter.

The Co-op local is the only general store with limited choices. The bakery only opens for a short period but is highly rated and helpful staff. There is also a Chinese takeaway which is decent and busy. There is also a pizza/burger bar. There is and icecream parlour at the Bailey lodge which I am told really good.
There are a few good pubs that do meals in the Gosforth area just 2 mile from Seascale and on the routes to Eskdale and Wastdale. Such as the pub at Santon bridge and Kellbeck hotel.
I would say if you are intending to visit that area then Seascale is only suitable for short stays.

As a town/village it was a one (or two) horse place with little to no real amenities for tourists...unless you like unpopulated beaches ! Only eatery was the Chinese takeaway...and a Co-op shop!
You would have to drive to St Bees for any other beach options (cafe), but similar beach..large car park and views, plus hill walking!
Good pubs in Gosforth but not much else!
Egremont was nearest point of civilisation. aprox (6 miles).
Enjoyed the views of this hotel it was the places definite unique selling point
The en suite was nice and clean and had a good sized shower, the towels were good quality and the little toiletries were a nice touch for those that had perhaps forgot to bring theirs
The staff, hospitality, the food are all bang on point. It’s a no nonsense friendly hotel. Went for a nice walk on the fantastic beach on the doorstep. And in the evening you get the greatest of sunsets with the Isle of Man on the Horizon. I’d go back again.
Amazing view from the room. Beach very close just over the railway bridge. Truly dog friendly hotel. A bit outdated interior but to an extent it added to the atmosphere. Rooms were nice and spacious. Recommend for dog owners as the beach was so nicely quiet.
