We loved the old roadside inn that had everything we needed-room with a view, pub, dinner, lovely staff and service!

Amazing staff free upgrade 😁 thankyou so much for being so accommodating! Only down side was a noisy night on the street outside with a few late night drinkers . Not to be helped I'm sure but maybe some sound proofing ? I also loved the welcome basket and the lady at breakfast was super friendly and helpful !
We loved the location and the size of the house. The photos don't really do it justice. We were a group of all adults so every room having an en-suite was just fantastic. We enjoyed using the house - cooking together in the kitchen and relaxing in the living room. There is some construction in the immediate area but this didn't detract from any enjoyment of the property. It was lovely to walk down to the pier in the evening with a bottle of wine and have a drink. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights there but, even without that, the stars were beautiful. A great base to explore the Island as there's so much to do there - walks were great and visits to other Islands were easy. Recommend Ulva with it's unique ferry, Staffa and the beautiful Iona. The bike hire is just across the road and we loved using the electric bikes to go to Tobermory. The shops, local coffee shop and bakery are all within walking distance and there's a great tea room/farm shop about 2 miles away.

Salen is a small village but it has everything you really need as a base for seeing the island. You can walk the length of the main Street in about five minutes. There's a shop and a couple of cafes.

Salen is a great place to be based as it's right in the centre of the island.
There are several walks in and around Salen and a good local shop for everything you may need for your stay. There's also a lovely coffee shop which sells lovely fresh homemaking and snacks.

Limited restaurants nearby.
Limited restaurants nearby. Hotel Salem wasn't very enticing. The Taste of Mull provides an excellent take away service. Location of Salen is very good for climbing Ben More and seeing the northern places of interest on Mull.

Central location on the island of Mull made it easy to travel any direction. Short distance to Craignure and Ulva ferries and a short drive to Tobermory. On the coast so lovely opportunity to see some wildlife and very calm quiet place. There are a couple of hotels serving food and drink in Salen, a petrol station, two coffee shops, both excellent, one doing carry out and the other sit-in. Would recommend both. Bikes can be hired next door to the accommodation. Bus service on main road if you don’t have a car. There is also a caravan park there.

Lovely little place with a couple of coffee shops and a spar. Ring some food, take away are rare and not so good or plan to eat out in Tobermory. With the island being pretty small staying here is an easy journey into Tobermory or a journey south to see more of the island too.
