My room had a roof window. Lot of cozy seating options outside. While the lodge is next to a road, it does not get very loud. The food was very good too. Good place to relax and see some birds.
The Three Hills features free WiFi and views of garden in Bartlow. At the hotel, every room comes with a desk. Rooms come with a private bathroom and free toiletries.

A family of four stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bed apartment directly above the pub.
+ Superb quality of decor, fixtures and fittings, very comfortable and practical space to stay in
+ A very 'cosy' pub with beautiful decor and the log burners going which was nice
+ Extremely approachable, attentive and sharp staff
+ Very high quality food and beers
+ One of the few places we've stayed that we'd definitely stay at again!
+ Beautiful, quiet village locale with a lovely walk up to the 'three hills'
Set within the rural village of Rickling Green overlooking the historic cricket ground, three-star rated The Cricketers Arms offers rooms with king-size beds and LCD TVs, just 15 minutes’ drive from...

I was disappointed. It felt like an episode of Hotel Hell. I was exhausted from travel all day and let the hotel know I will be coming around 6pm. Normal check in is at 3pm but when I arrived my room was still not ready. So I then had to wait for the lady to clean my room and when I did go up to my room the lady didn't even offer to help with my luggage and it was in some backwards way through hidden hallways that was extremely confusing and stupid. My room was not clean. I found pubic hairs all over the shower and calcium build up in there too. The bed had these gross worn out sham pillows and the floor was gritty. I was not happy. I slept with my shirt put over the pillow as my own pillowcase cause I wasn't sure if my sheets were changed. The little girl in the bar had a bad attitude and was not accommodating at all. Also, I wanted to order food up to my room but I would need to come and grab it myself even though you are in the service industry and provide ZERO service to your guests. The burger was crap and old and tasted frozen, the fries were decent but they are not skinny fries so don' advertise that. Then my appetizer of gnocci consisted of 5 pieces of old hard pasta's that were just soaked in the most disgusting oil and had no flavor and were just slapped together. Absolutely terrible and I was still starving so I had to buy nuts and chips from the front just so I don't go to bed hungry from their crap food. Wine was also old and started to turn as well. The only redemption was the cool bartender the next morning who was helpful and kind to me. Blonde fellow who studied history in school. Other than that - absolute crap and I actually do come to that area often for work but will purposely not be staying in that hotel anymore due to the poor management, lack of care, cleanliness, and overall value for the money spent there. Fix it cause your locals deserve better.

We were only staying in Saffron Walden because I was taking part in a concert at Saffron Hall but had a walk around in the morning. We were impressed by the number of independent coffee/cake shops and independent shops in general. The Saturday market had lots of interesting stalls, beautifully laid out fruit and veg stalls, fantastic pastry and cake stall with long queues. Lovely examples of old properties with pargetting. We could have spent longer wandering around the town if it hadn't been for the rain! The Swan meadow car park was good, cheap and felt safe as it had CCtV cameras and good lighting at night. Very easy to pay for more parking remotely using the phone app.

Definitely worth a visit, good assortment of restaurants and bars and rows of lovely thatched cottages.
The museum is worth a visit too.
We were just a short walk away from Audley End where we attend a concert.

Saffron Walden is a very pleasant small town with a good market in the main square on the day we visited. It is worth visiting the Bridge End Gardens, the small Fry Gallery and its large church. There was plenty of choice for lunch, we had excellent value and flavours at Chater's. Choices in the evening are fewer, but we had a good meal at our hotel, the Cross Keys.

A great market town with plenty of cheap parking and everything walkable. We only stayed one night but could happily have stayed 2 or 3 days. People were very friendly and great pubs. Lots of interesting (historic) properties to view.

It’s quite a small town, so it’s very easy to explore on foot. There is some really old & very beautiful architecture, as well as a story-book castle ruin, and nearby grand Manor House (Audley End).
There are lots of places to grab a coffee, or a meal (the fish & chip shop on the main road is excellent!), and there are some quirky shops, and some really good quality charity shops, too!
Lots of interesting nooks and crannies... a really lovely town.
Easy access to frequent buses, and not far from Audley End station.

The room (no. 8) was lovely. Hardwood floor, deep bath, the most comfortable bed. The food, both in the evening and at breakfast was lovely. The chap we dealt with had a very cheerful and friendly manner. Very informative and nothing was too much trouble. The kitchen closed at 9pm but that wasn't an issue for us. There is a nice courtyard at the back of the hotel. A really nice setting and a very characterful building.
Quiet & peaceful location, very convenient for visiting Saffron Walden. Property had everything you need to prepare a meal and breakfast provided was lovely. Sofa was so comfy we spent the evenings binge watching Netflix, loved that all streaming services are available. Neil and Jennie wonderful helpful hosts and Winnie was adorable.
The Oast House is decorated in a distinctive and cosy style with bang up to date kitchen and other equipment. The bedroom and sitting room are super over the top comfortable and I will definitely book again when next in Saffron Walden.
Comfortable apartment in a great location right in the centre of Saffron Walden with free parking. Easy check in and Hannah was very helpful with any early check in and answering any queries. I would recommend this property.
