    very historical city.

very historical city. One has to appreciate the history of England, the role of King John and the Magna Carta relating to the siege of the castle, the history of charles Dickens and the museum of Dickens is a true gem. For lovers of history, this town is amazing! for those interested in a nice weekend out with good food, this town comes out tops!

I loved all the bars, cafes, restaurants, hair and beauty salons and charity shops. It's also a great place for young people, there's plenty lively bars, nightclub, etc. There's an amazing Cathedral and Castle there too. It's a real nice place to visit because it's full of history

Rochester is an easy friendly town.

Rochester is an easy friendly town. There are many places to eat and a great variety of foods. Many places for a quick coffee. The shops are full of different items and art works that you would not see in a main town. Plenty of places to visit, Cathedral, Castle, Fort, river walks and near to Chatham Maritime.

The old part round the High Street, Cathedral and Castle is fascinating with interesting shops and good dining. We ate at the Olé Tapas Restaurant, where the food was excellent and the owner and staff were friendly. All these locations are a short walk from each other.

Rochester has a castle and cathedral which are worth a visit...

Rochester has a castle and cathedral which are worth a visit. Parking is difficult in town but you can usually get a place on the Esplanade. It's not free. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the town with a wide variety of cuisine. We had a lovely Italian meal at Mama Mia's who kindly served us though we were a little late. Also The Cheese Room is a great place to eat but it's essential to book. You'll get a good cask ale at The Cooper's Arms and the locals will actually have a chat with you and give you recommendations for the town. We used our stay to go to Chatham Historic Docks. It is expensive but your ticket lasts for a year. We went on three consecutive days which was why we were visiting the area and still didn't see everything. We're hoping to go back before our tickets expire and explore the rest of the site. The Docks are superb, great for kids and adults alike and the food is very good when compared with other tourist sites. Make sure you see the ropemaking and the secret ship under the floor. Excellent. Parking is free on site. The submarine is fascinating but a bit tricky getting through the bulkheads. Make sure you visit the RNLI collection and this year there is a special exhibition marking 200 years of the founding of the RNLI. Also, take a little walk across the bridge in the centre of Rochester, it's really beautiful and has an interesting history.

The town is very historic with buildings to match.

The town is very historic with buildings to match. If you like public houses go you’ll be in your element. There is a reasonable priced multi storey car park close by near the station The castle and the cathedral are opposite each other but didn’t visit. They look very impressive especially in the evening from the pub Ye Arrow Back garden.

This hotel is charming and in the perfect location to explore the Rochester area. It is quiet, the rooms are comfy and clean. This is an old building, and privately run, and with that in mind, it is in excellent condition. But it won't be perfect, and I would encourage visitors to have reasonable expectations. If you do, this is a more than satisfying place to stay. Also, the breakfast was delicious and the dining room is lovely.
