The tea bags provided were of a good quality. Along with the biscuits and water.
They also provided toiletries for showering.

Stunning little hidden gem. Room was warm, cosy and comfy. We arrived in the dark so wasn't aware how beautiful the surroundings was until the morning. Excellent value for money. We will definitely be returning

Retford is situated between the River Idle & Chesterfield Canal and makes a good base for exploring these and the nearby Idle Valley Nature Reserve. We were actually staying overnight as we were at an event at Retford Little Theatre which I can also recommend. The market place is quite impressive with it's war memorial and selection of old buildings. There are the usual eateries, charity shops and discounts stores as well of a selection of pubs. I can highly recommend the Idle Valley Tap if you are into your craft beers/real ales.

Just an overnight stay in the old Police Station where I worked years ago, in the town I lived in for 23yrs. Visiting friends. The town still has character, with an attractive market square. There are an array of varied eating options, from budget to quality restaurants. The hotel itself is conveniently placed in the centre of town next to the large and pleasant Kings Park.

Retford is a charming market town with an antique market on a Friday and general market on a Saturday with plenty of local shops to browse.
There are plenty of excellent restaurants , particularly the lounge at Rhondo where fantastic breakfast is served , in fact fantastic food all round. It is exceptional for anyone with allergies with dedicated staff and kitchen especially gluten free. With Cumber national trust park not far away and of course the local craft company Indigoblu it’s a great place to visit. It’s small enough to get around easily and more than it’s fair share of great restaurants ie Gurka on a sun night for a buffet, Italian called the herbalist which does outstanding garlic bread and freshly cooked food. The sun inn is brilliant and quality food. The only confusing thing is all the places and restaurants seem to have two names! Enjoy 😊

The central area of Retford around the Market Square is quite historic and attractive. There are a limited number of good places to eat. The best (imo) is Spencers on the Square which is in a lovely old building that was an Auction House. I also went to the Brew Shed, which has good local beers but the food is only average. It was very busy.
Beautiful hotel and building and the room was stunning - it really exceeded my expectations. Breakfast was lovely and the building grounds were also beautiful- the room was lovely and clean and the condiments in the room were top quality. Lovely quiets rooms and the bathroom and bath is just stunning. Would stay here again and recommend!
