Made an impromptu visit to Usk, Charming town. This hotel is on the main road out of town, so was convenient. Impressive building and garden. Reception was warm from the manager/barman/waiter/cook/guide.... (we only saw one member of staff in 18 hours) who was an excellent host throughout.
Situated in Usk, 40 km from Bristol Parkway Station, The Lodge by Cefn Tilla features accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a restaurant.

Raglan has one of the most impressive castles in the UK, but the little town’s parish Church is also worth a look.
The area generally is excellent for walking: just a little further west around Abergavenny are a number of excellent Hill walks.

The Beaufort has the very best beds we have slept in for many moons!!
So comfortable; deep proper mattresses with good quality bed linen. Towels were also good quality, clean, mark free and thick.

We didn't see Raglan town itself but we visited Raglan Castle. It is an interesting example of late medieval castle which used to be a very exquisite place to live. It differs from other medieval castles with mainly defensive function as it shows how representative it used to be.

I really loved the quiet location felt remote although it isnt being in Raglan near the Castle and close to Monmouth. quirky old cottage with great history with amazing art work (both owners are artists). Double Room at top of house comfortable and spacious and liked having the leather sofa in room to read. Lovely breakfast. Received a warm welcome despite only booking 1 hr before!
Very cosy , homey and rustic authentic medieval cottage. The kitchen is warm and homey as well. Set in the countryside. With outside sunny garden and private eating area, with a pond nearby. It's off the beaten track, but close enough to explore other areas of Wales on day trips, and a stone's throw away from Raglan Castle.
The building is incredible, such a tastefully and beautifully decorated house. Its near to Abergavenny and Raglan, the breakfast (no cooked breakfasts) is also very good with plenty of yoghurts and home made jams, hot croissants and pastries, breads and honey, tea and coffee and cakes.... ample.
The hotel was full of character, the staff friendly and efficient, breakfast and evening meals were excellent with good choice. Our room had a lovely view towards the surrounding countryside.
