The check-in process was fast and the staff were helpful. The restaurant offers a sumptuous and soul satisfying lamb dish. The property has a charm that only a heritage property can provide. The bed was surprisingly comfortable to sleep in

Bracken Hide Hotel, hotel in Raasay

Located in Portree, 22 miles from Dunvegan Castle, Bracken Hide Hotel has accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking and a bar. This 4-star hotel offers luggage storage space.

We were a group of 9 traveling from the USA and this was one of the few properties that could host all of us together. The individual cottages were small, clean and cozy. The queen-sized beds were very comfortable memory foam. The central building houses the restaurant, bar, and gathering space, all of which we put to good use. The breakfast was delicious, and the menu sufficiently varied to meet the desires of all nine of us! Also, parking was plentiful.

If you can stay on Isle of Skye, do so.

If you can stay on Isle of Skye, do so. While the ferry ride is short, there are very few things to do on Raasay and only one, possibly two restaurants of any type. The hotel itself is beautiful, but the room we had which must have at one time been the attic room for servants was so small, the queen size bed barely fit. Our window looked out on the back yard and was where the garbage cans were. It was quite noisy as staff hauled out garbage and clanked bottles late at night. Also there was no shade onthe window to block the light from the enormous street light. The library was beautiful and filled with interesting books and things, but the small coal (I think) fireplace was underwhelming. The staff was great! Mostly students working the summer, but really efficient and pleasant. I would have a different review perhaps if my room had been better.

The Distillery is a great option to stay while visiting the Highlands and going up north. It's a top choice to feel and breathe the nature while enjoying a very comfortable evening. It is a good idea to bring the car into the island if you can spare the time to tour around - just beware that you have to fit your schedule to the ferry timetables and it can be tricky on Sundays. Regarding meal options, also note that there could be no other options apart from the hotel ( we were here mid-May).

The location, walking, scenery is fantastic, distillery tour is interesting and whisky tasting is informative. Staff are friendly and informative. The downstairs room (6) requires work, has no openable windows, no AC and has forced air ventilation which is noisy and can’t be switched off. Basin is set far too low for use and there is no hot water in the basin. No place to unpack clothes so if staying longer than one night, have to live out of your suitcase

This was by far the most beautiful hotel of our Scotland trip and we would definitely stay with Raasay House Hotel again. We loved the idyllic location with amazing views of Raasay and Isle of Skye. The dinner including the service was excellent, the staff was extremely helpful, and the regular ferries to Isle of Skye (around 25 minutes) depart just a few minutes away from the hotel. Bonus points for all the sheep, bunnies, and cows that make the dinner views even better.

An amazing place which we enjoyed so much - the house was luxurious and the nature breathtaking - absolutely a highlight on our Scotland tour - would have loved to stay longer - highly recommendable - the local Whiskey distillery was a great experience and the Raasay hotel provided an opportunity to purchase a minivan ride from property to ferry upon departure.
