The welcome I received from Rachel on reception was unusually excellent. I felt extremely welcome and informed. it gave the hotel a personality from the moment I entered. If she's ever considering moving on, I'd advise the hotel throw money at her - she's an asset.

Country house style hotel on the edge of town. Grand old building set in pleasant location. Easy parking at hotel. Room a bit tired though comfortable bed and great shower. Pleasant bar/casual dining at reasonable enough prices (for a hotel). Downsides - no staff on reception when I arrived - kept waiting for ages after a long drive. Tea cups and spoons in room not cleaned or not properly cleaned. Musak in bar grating after a while. Not sure how staff stand it. Excellent service in bar though and at breakfast.

With a picturesque setting on the banks of the River Dee, this charming Scottish mansion dates back to 1225 AD, and was once home to the Knights Templar.

Staff were exceptional and very attentive with nothing being a problem. Including the chef when we arrived early who made us sandwiches even though they were not on the menu. Room upgraded too. A gem of a hotel in spectacular surroundings; definitely will recommend and will be back.
The old village of Portlethen was very friendly. It is out of the way so you’ll need a car or money for taxis. The rooms at “the Neuk” come with a continental breakfast, which suited us perfectly. The food at “The Neuk” was different and very tasty, highly recommended! Portlethen is very near Stonehaven and Aberdeen in the car, perfect for exploring. Also went to Peterhead Prison Museum. Even though it was cold and we the only people on the premises and on the set of headphones tour, it was very informative and intriguing. I highly recommend this too. Thank you Gerry and May at “The Neuk” we enjoyed the holiday and your hospitality and the yummy food. We will return for sure!

The bed was comfortable & had a spacious bathroom and shower with plenty of hot water. it was at the side of the house and the view out of the window was poor as it looked out onto a wall. However it was well away from the bar and so it was quiet. The hotel is on the edge of the houses leading down to the beach and it was a very pleasant walk down to the sea on a steep roadway & very old 'creel' paths past converted fishermen's cottages.
The room was so lovely and it’s one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept in. May was very welcoming and put me i the room with the bath, which was much appreciated as I was on a big coast walk! Dinner in the pub was great too.
Lovely little pub/hotel in a picturesque village with fantastic views. The owner and the locals were really friendly. The room was lovely and shower was great.
