Great little village with the friendliest people throughout.

Great little village with the friendliest people throughout. 3 very good restaurants within walking distance. Bus runs from here to Portnahaven in the South and to the main other towns (Bowmore/Port Ellen) though ends at 6pm. For food, drink and friendly chats recommend The Port Charlotte Hotel, also the live music Sunday & Wednesday. Lochindaal Seafood Kitchen excellent seafood from a short menu. Worth a walk to Port Mor Community Cafe for breakfast.

The staff were outstanding, so friendly and nothing seemed to be an issue for them. Rarely have I ever stayed somewhere that compares with the genuine warmth and kindness. My bedroom was a little disappointing as it was very small and would have been near impossible if I was sharing. It needs an upgrade, as does the bathroom which was a bit below standard. The food and bar were excellent and can't really be faulted. If the bedrooms do get an upgrade, then this will be difficult to beat.

Beautiful well preserved Island village with peaceful shoreline and harbour in a good location for exploring nature preserves, clifftop vilages and unspoilt Atlantic beaches. Excellent community run campsite with excellent restaurant as long as you book for the evening. There is a popular sea food restaurant and hotel in addition to the one we stayed in. Suggest you plan your eating in advance as they tend to be fully booked at peak times. Visit the local distillery at Bruichladdie or the atlantic coast villages of port na haven or port wemyss.

A small quiet friendly village on the Island with a good restaurant plus a local hotel with bar also serving meals. A local spar shop catering for small items with the town of Bowmore a few miles away catering for larger needs. A very enjoyable place to spend some chill time with many interesting places to visit on the island not least the abundance of whisky distilleries.
