There are a few things we like, but most of all was the quirkiness of the property and the surrounding views.
The owners Caroline and Kit were lovely and helpful from day one. If there was something we needed they where happy to support and suggested some lovely places for us to visit. Wales has a lot of hidden gems and this beautiful cottage is one of them.

The room was very quiet and very comfortable. Breakfast was served in my room and presented in a cute basket full of goodies for a filling breakfast.

What a lovely stay! We had a wonderful couple of days at Heron's Retreat. It was the perfect introduction to camping for some of our party. The beds were really comfortable, the fire pit was such fun (we could buy firewood nearby), and the toilet/shower facilities were clean and well kept. The whole area was quite spacious.
In general, there were enough pillows/duvets, but a forewarning about potential cold by the hosts and their recommendation to bring extra blankets was really helpful.
It's a secluded spot, though the tent is on a plot of land adjacent to a small road (albeit one that is very quiet - two vehicles went past in the two days that we spent there).
The hosts were very responsive and easy to get in touch with. Reception at the tent site is very finicky, though - just something to keep in mind.

The owner cancelled our stay so excited children left disappointed such a shame as we had a lovely dry weekend in wales that week - luckily I got a refund in the end !
