There is only one serious flaw in Paignton as a holiday destination - the local council charge 30p to go to the loo. This is not tourist friendly.
I love the positive and friendly atmosphere of the locals. I was made to feel very welcome.

I was born in the region, at Totnes, so I know Paignton pretty well. Also my Father was born in Paignton. It's nit Torquay (thank goodness) but is much to my preference. I come to Devon occasionally as I have a property in Dartington, which is let, so I can't stay there. Anyway, my parents are both buried at Colyton St. Mary and I can eat at the Cattleman's Steak (Parker's Arms) so I am connected to the area and there are many tangential benefits.

I have been going to Paignton for some years now.
I have been going to Paignton for some years now. Like a lot of places, shops have shut and things have deteriorated in the town centre a bit but still it remains my choice as it is so convenient. Wonderful steam railway which is very popular. Plenty of eating places, lovely beaches, plenty of B & B's. The train services are wonderful to go to so many other places and so are the buses so if you are not driving, it's marvellous. I travelled to Totnes, Buckfastleigh, Plymouth, Newton Abbott and several other places at very reasonable cost. I shall be back to Paignton again soon.

Lovely typical seaside town at the end of the rail line, with frequent train services to the rest of South Devon, and the whole UK via changing at Newton Abbot which is 15 minutes back up the track. Handy for breaking journey en route to Cornwall. Ideal for a short (or longer!) stay, it has everything you need, with plenty of choices for days out. Lots of very good and affordable accommodation in the town, and all the shops you could need. A frequent bus service to Brixham, which is well worth a visit. I've always found the locals exceptionally friendly. A lovely place to visit and stay.

This was one of, if not the best hotel I have stayed in. Such a lovely, homely place. Sue was so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The room was cosy and spotlessly clean.
The beds...oh my, the beds, what comfort. I haven't slept that well in so long.
We had a fantastic breakfast every morning, cooked by Sue's hubby Duncan. There is just not enough that I can say. I am definitely coming back again. This will be my home from home while visiting Paignton. 15 out 10
Thank you so much for making our stay so wonderful x
Lovely little hotel and very close to Paignton seafront. Was made to feel Very Welcome . Hosts made sure I had everything I needed and nothing was too much trouble. I opted for room only this time , little cheaper than B&B rate , good to have the choice. Room was cleaned every day and tea, coffee milks were topped up which was nice not having to ask for extra when they ran low.
Location is a few hundred yards from the seafront promenade and paignton's main shopping area, library rail and bus links. The hotel offers breakfast in the price and was a fabulous full english or of your own menu desire. The hotel was very clean throughout. Good value for money.
We loved everything about the Queens. We came to visit family who live in Paignton and they were welcomed at the hotel also. We enjoyed the pool and the bar, bingo and entertainment. The staff were brilliant and we would definitely come again. Many Thanks.
